Is this a good time to remeld CP? Based on some new rotations I saw.

This is some of the new rath rotations on steroids I saw.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/75sla8/crafting_rotation_for_41_2_star_updated/

This rotation if you're willing to spend an eternity on it allows for absolute minimum craft and control being replaced by more CP.

I'm thinking if this is worth it to remeld my 290s to CP instead until I manage to craft the new sets.

I tried something in the similar spirit before.

Pump a couple of CP moves at the start and slowly using flawless synthesis to farm good/excellent conditions to recover CP.

But it is really freaking tedious...

Yes you want max CP right now for the current design. Its annoying but you'll have difficulty working around the current requirements in other ways.

Why? I have a base of 465 CP and have zero problems crafting the new gear. Just finished crafting my gathering set. No problems. I even forgot to use ingen2 and my cunning tea. Still no problem. I haven't been hording my CP either. I use prudent touches, use goods for quality (unless I don't have SH up) and still manage to get to the point where I want to finish with around 130 CP left. So why meld for CP then? Are you preparing for the upcoming new gear or just wanting to skip the sea of flawlesses or...? Yay for being able to reclaim (most) materia! :'D

I agree. I actually have less than you (445 base) and I'm able to easily make myself the new HQ crafting gear.

    Eh?

I haven't had any trouble and I was below cap. With tempura and tea I've actually been at overkill on CP

You don't actually need anywhere close to cap to be able to handle these because you'll get so much CP through CZ and tricks of the trade. If you approach your cap during the synth, burn off cp by temporarily increasing quality before continuing with FS/tricks use. Even if you lose a step, the CP gained is more than worth it. You should be able to use master's mend 2 twice, and ingen2 two or even three times during the synth, while throwing in some prudent touches along with your HTs and HT2s.

Even at minimum craft/control, the alc items are easily doable from all NQ and I routinely get 85%+ more often than not. For the final craft, you should be safe with 4.5-6K starting quality until you get better gear.

With spec abilities added, I think 0-100% could be possible at min requirements.

Control is actually really strong now.
Those cp is because its a macro and so cannot take benefits from tricks/specialist skills

If you're doing things by hand its a bit different. Both you and Fervid are correct. By hand you can have less than max CP and Control is highly valuable now. One could argue at what point control is more valuable than CP. But more CP gives you more chances to adjust your rotation for mistakes, ToT starvation and good/excellent procs. Likewise more control gives you better ability to macro. So its all up to the individual.

Personally I just want to be able to macro the majority of my work. I don't mind hand synthing final items. But with the number of items I make each patch and for my FC, making every item by hand is not feasible. So I plan to stack CP and macro alot.

With this said my comment was in reference to the initial shock of the difficulty of the new recipes by friends/FC members and that initially more CP = better learning experience. After looking things over if you simply sea of flawlesses and optionally whistle the rotation isn't overly difficult just LONNNNNNGGGGG

I understand where you're coming from. I mostly gather and craft myself. I've used macros too and I've been playing around with these recipes. I can't help feeling like there were designed to stop macros, simply for how important the procs are. But more power to you. It is a very long process.
