    Leves and Grinding

    Hello every1,

I just started the game and got few questions

    1) Should I do Leves or stack them for later and grind instead?

    2) Is Rank different from physical lvl?

    3) From what I understood, I should lvl to 20+ before I have to change my gear, is that right?

    4) I am planning to be a tank and thus got GLA, what skill/traits should I try and get from other classes to make my life easier while solo or party.

Also if there is any usefull and updated guide out there (GLA guide, Crafting guide, General info,...etc) plz gief link

Only one I found so far is this :

Stack them for later and grind instead. Grinding is more efficient and provides you with more potential sources of gil. The later leves (10-20+) give pretty generous gil rewards when compared to lvl1. You should skip lvl1 leves altogether. It should be easy to spot leveling places near the levecamps with lots of mobs to grind on.

Try to familiarize yourself with retainers and market wards asap.

    2) Is Rank different from physical lvl?
There are no ranks or physical levels in this game. There is only class level.

    3) From what I understood, I should lvl to 20+ before I have to change my gear, is that right?
More like lvl10~, it really makes a difference. Every 5-8 levels or so is pretty good plan.

    4) I am planning to be a tank and thus got GLA, what skill/traits should I try and get from other classes to make my life easier while solo or party.
PGL lvl6 skill is pretty handy for healing, MRD lvl6 skill also. Don't think long-term though, we should receive the new completely overhauled action list next week which will come into play next month. That will change the class mechanics quite a bit.

The game changes quite a bit from patch to another so its hard to make a guide that isn't outdated in few months.

    Thanks for the quick answer

I geuss I will lvl many classes to lvl10-15 and see where I need to go from there.

Is there and NPC who sells lvl1 weapons for all classes? I only need to equip the weapon and POOF, class changed, right?

There should be at least one NPC who sells a given level 1 weapon in each town. Guilds sell their own gear, and each city has an area with market stalls (Main city, NOT the market wards, those are player run and won't sell level 1 equipment), the remaining weapons will be in some of those stalls.

Also, yes. Equip weapon, change discipline on the fly. Can come in handy sometimes.

Just a couple clarifications, based on my own personal opinion.

    Totally up to you.

Leves give an XP bonus at the end, so they can be a quick way to level up your class. But grinding is super fast XP right now for Disciples of War/Magic.

The advantage to doing the level 1 leves is that they give level 1 ("Weathered") weapons/tools as rewards. So you won't have to spend your money on those.

But if you're planning to level crafts, it can be an easy and cheap way to do that, because they give you the materials for crafting, and they give you an XP bonus when you turn them in. Only issue is that you have to run or teleport to wherever you have to turn them in, which can take some time or anima.
    3) From what I understood, I should lvl to 20+ before I have to change my gear, is that right?
Again, it's up to you. I don't think you really need to change your gear before level 20, but you probably want to change your weapon/tool whenever you reach the next rank. A new weapon/tool actually makes a pretty big difference. But I wouldn't stress too much about having maxed out gear at the lower levels.
    4) I am planning to be a tank and thus got GLA, what skill/traits should I try and get from other classes to make my life easier while solo or party.
If you take every class to level 10, pretty much every class will have at least one skill that will really help. Pug has Second Wind; Marauder has Bloodbath; Lancer has Invigorate and Ferocity; Archer has Hawk's Eye and Raging Strike; Thaumaturge has Sacrifice; and of course Conjurer has Cure, Stoneskin, Protect, and Shell.

Also if there is any usefull and updated guide out there (GLA guide, Crafting guide, General info,...etc) plz gief link
Can't help you too much there. A lot has changed recently, so any old guides might be dated. Maybe check the Gladiator forum?

    Good luck!

    A couple more tips:

Some NPCs behind the large counter in each Adventurer's Guild sell low-level armor and the level 1 main hand items for every class as of 1.19.

You'll have to take CNJ to 16 for Protect, Shell, Stoneskin, and Shock Spikes, but it's very worth it.

Save anima! You can register up to 3 camps as 'Favored', which halves the anima cost for teleporting to them. You can also set one aetheryte as your home point, which you can use Return from the main menu to teleport back once every 15 minutes.

It's supposed to be late November or early December, but given how large it is, I wouldn't be surprised if it was released two full weeks into December.

I do know that the major changes to the ability system were posted Friday, and we should get the actual new lists of War/Magic abilities early next week.

1.20 will also feature a much better player search feature and some 'auction house'-style streamlining of the market wards.
