Another way would be to develop a separate tool set and allow players to make and use there own system resources to design there own instance...the encrypted character data would be a pain to admin so people dont abuse the system by overwriting to the server.. but a simple read function copy shouldn't be to bad... no more gardening or the like but far more resources....though only so much hard drive and rendering capacity on a console.

Signed. My idea for housing content would be to add Economic districts to Ishgard (and other major cities). This would be FC only and a floor+workshop in an instanced office building. It would be customizable, primarily function as a private space to build airships, have gardening space, all crafting stations and the same storage of normal estates. Allowing outdoor furnishings to be used inside would also alleviate the lack of a yard that both it and apartments have. The main goal would be to allow players access to the practical features of housing while giving more incentive to opt for an apartment for the luxury part of housing and also retain the uniqueness of owning a regular house. Since the apartments/Economic districts would be instanced, it would be easier to add more to match a server's population. I really hope SE does something about the housing situation. Customers shouldn't have to get upset about a problem with a product that has already failed once.

I agree! As a loyal player for 4 years now, looking for a house ever since, I don't think its fair for everyone to just be able to grab a house, not when there are so little available. Make it so fc's have priority and veterans have the opportunity to reserve a house (if they dont have a house yet). Now the system is in favor of the rich, in other words, the ones with the fastest pc's. I have no idea if this is even doable, but how it is now, is not fair.

Hello, everyone. This is FFXIV Producer and Director, Naoki Yoshida.

Patch 4.1 saw the introduction of the residential area, Shirogane, and though we are pleased to see so many players enjoying this area, we also received a great deal of feedback regarding this newest addition to housing.

While a great number of you were interested in either purchasing or relocating to a plot in Shirogane, we failed to prepare sufficient plots for players, and for that I deeply apologize.

Although this issue will be addressed in today’s hotfix, we understand this does not address the underlying issue. In light of the feedback we have received, we will be working to bolster our servers in preparation for additional wards in the Lavender Beds, the Goblet, Mist, and Shirogane by patch 4.2.

We’ve also received considerable feedback as to how they should be added, and we will be making an announcement outlining the number of new wards and how they will be sold after reviewing said feedback. To prevent speculation, we will refrain from releasing information until absolutely necessary. We ask for your patience and understanding until we can provide you with these details.

I hope we can count on your continued support, and that you all will continue to enjoy the various new content added in patch 4.1.

It could be or it couldn't be. He just announced roughly what was going on there is no real way to see how it is incorporated yet. Who knows maybe there will be ward auto generation once the ward is full. And if they were smart they would make one FC and one personal for each account that is shared among your alts. The house would have to have a random timer after the plot is relinquished to sway flippers.
