The best solution for everybody, is instanced houses. Players then can make neighborhoods just like they make linkshells, by having a Neighbor Leader and inviting other players or FC with houses, to create an instance will all the houses placed in a line.

But this is what happens? We were all hyped for more housing, knew the limitations (First problem), prepared ourselves to rush it (because of first problem), only for the servers to vomit (second problem).

SE set this system up for failure.

Really, the fact that the servers failing that hard and blocking thousands of players from logging in did absolutely nothing to stop wards from filling in minutes time while Apartments have thousands of open rooms is a devastating sign of the system being completely wrong.

I moved from Balmung just before SB and got a house on a smaller server easy. *shrug*

Thats why I think they should upgrade the apartments a bit because right now all they are is just a single room. They could at least put in a balcony.

I think this is one of the only constructive threads/posts on housing that I've seen and I genuinely hope that it makes it to someone who can effect some of the change proposed.

Hyomin you were respectful and thoughtful, I thought you did a lovely job highlighting not only the current problems but also amazing solutions. I particularly enjoy the idea of leaving current wards as they stand and then making an instanced ward. This way if people are so crazy concerned about community and outside decoration they can own a currently existing house and if not they can buy or move to an instanced plot.

That's where they made the mistake. They should of gone the procedural generated route. Making Routes and designs that fill in the architecture of said area while placing Houses down as requested.

Even if server was perfect, people will miss out. Who are you going to blame then? Hacker? Pos porter? Hell, on reddit there were people accused of hack just because they can find a house

Going to respond to this comment, because I still addressed my concerns on the housing system itself in my opening post.

If the servers were not—for lack of a more eloquent term—garbage, and had not lobby server errored tons of players trying to log in at Zero Hour, I would still address SE, and their poor lack of implementation and planning when it comes to Housing in this game.

To advertise Shirogane as a main attraction of an expansion knowing that each server was only going to have 720 houses available among thousands of active characters, and the fact that SE still has not addressed the issue of a single account being able to own multiple houses due to shell FCs and alts, nor planned when they added in personal housing to address any such exploit. . . .to advertise Shirogane in such a manner with so little resources is just shameful. SE should be ashamed, and they should really take to heart all the complaints coming from every region, not just NA.

I am not here to rage uncontrollably at SE. I want to have a constructive discussion, and I want to address these issues as politely, but as firmly, as I possibly can. Because they deserve to be heard. Silence does not equal compliance. It does not equal complacency. And it does not equal satisfaction. As I said in my opening post, I am just disappointed in SE and this game after the fiasco that was Shirogane release, and all I can do is hope that enough people will address this issue, and it will be noticed and acknowledged by someone who can, hopefully, do something about it. Even though hoping was what got me in trouble (i.e., hoping beyond hope to get a plot), I can’t help but hope someone on the Dev Team will eventually hear these concerns, and respond. With more than just an apology, or a band-aid fix.

I also want to address the issue of shell FCs and housing ownership, because my FC is extremely small (2 active members including myself) but owns a large plot.

Despite what it may seem, it is in no way a shell FC. I became master of it after the previous one, a friend of mine, left it to me. My FC used to have a much larger population, two or so years ago, but all its members either quit, changed FCs, or transferred servers. It was those people who bought this mansion, when housing first came out, and who used it, until it ultimately fell to me to run things.

Anybody who wants to join my FC is welcome to do so - we have recruitment open all the time - it's just that I don't spend all my time standing in towns, spamming recruitment ads. I would much rather not be mistaken for somebody running a shell FC in order to own multiple houses, because that's just not true.
