Petition for more wards / instanced housing

Signed. Strongly considering cancelling additional retainers and unsubbing 2 accounts over this.

I personally pay for my wife, my son, and my own accounts, She has 5 retainers I have 2. That is nearly 50 USD a month. This housing is ridiculous, I eagerly waited until launch to try to get in, and was already 809 in line. By 5 minutes EVERY house had been bought for every ward in the game on Marboro. After last night I'm pretty strongly standing with wanting to unsub and get my friends to do so as well (we play other games but only play 14 together). Yoshi-P and team... WE BEG OF YOU! PLEASE FIX THIS ARCHAIC SYSTEM!!

Edit PS: After going through the FF14 reddit thread, I'm convinced that a large majority of players who purchased homes did it with newly formed free companies since the leveling up process for FC's is so easy. Not to mention only 3 people to start one??..

My bf and I logged in at the same time. He got right in while I was stuck with a 1136 queue length. He logged in and got a beach front property while watching everything get bought. I finally got in long enough to see the last Shirogane plot purchased. That was about 11 minutes (Excalibur).

I really don't think SE even cares enough to read this stuff. I agree with everything I've read in this thread so far, and I'll type out /signed for the token gesture, but I don't think it will help.

This is the worst housing system I've ever seen in a game; I say that loving many of the concepts, but the execution is so bad it makes housing in FF14 an item on a cons list not to choose this game over another. It's such an easy problem to solve, and yet, somehow, SE hasn't been able(willing) to fix it.

I would definitely like to see this be a thing. I get why additional wards are a problem, and why the developers wanted to set up the community aspect. However, that doesn't change the fact that a lot of folks got royally screwed over this morning because everyone, literally everyone, was logging in at the same time. I got lucky, but several of my FC didn't, and I feel really badly for them.

Personally, I'm all in favor of the instanced housing idea. You could easily set those up in each of the cities (where we have most of our ward npcs already anyway) and make it very much like the apartments you already have. Maybe make it a plot that starts out small, but through quests or investment you build up your city house and garden. You would have the option to allow friends to come by and visit (like they already do), and you could even keep the current wards.

You could make those (and future ones) sort of like country estates vs. the city ones. And as an incentive you could make the city houses maybe a bit more expensive than a small (say 4,000,000), and able to be built up to the equivalent of something a bit smaller than a medium. that would leave the small ward houses enticing for folks with a little less gil, and the medium and large ones enticing for folks who want more room. But at the same time everyone would be guaranteed the option of getting a house.

I managed to login exactly as the serves got up but couldn't connect to datacenter, and that promptly booted me out of the game and I had to pass launcher check, login, connection to datacenter and a queue of 800...
