Question about House Hoarding/Lack of Houses

Limited resources in an MMO have been a thing since forever. And while my argument may baffle you, I'm more baffled at the fact that you choose to complain in public forums about a group of players that own less than 0.5% of player housing in a server instead of investing your time in finding a plot. Just sayin'.

You're absolutely right. What you just said has completely changed my view on the housing problem, I mean situation which is not problem. People should not complain whatsoever when they have problems with any system, I agree & should just accept things as they are, also to "git gud " obviously as you pointed out earlier. Everyone if you can't get a house on your crowded servers I do suggest leveling an alt on a low pop server to see whether plots are available, the plots you may want & then transfer!


Sure you may have to keep leveling on different servers but do it for the plot, It's that easy! Eventually you'll run into a server with your desired plot which will be a win for you! That or move on to other MMO' that provide housing that you may want even though you might still like Final Fantasy XIV but just don't agree with the housing problem, I mean situation. Haise has confirmed that all MMO' have limited resources so please stop asking for unreasonable fixes, server limitations! Just sayin'.

Yes, I understand limiting rewards that take skill and dedication to get, but are you really arguing that obtaining a house in an MMO should require comparable skill and dedication to hard-core PvP or PvE endgame? Seriously?

And for the record, I am not complaining about any particular group of players owning an obscure percentage of real estate ingame. I take issue with two things only-
1- The hot mess that SE implemented as housing system, which is in dire need of expansion and/or overhaul.
2- The selfish, thoughtless attitude of people who knowingly hoard houses during a shortage 'just because they can,' which only exacerbates an already sh**y situation.

When people are in a overpopulated servers like Balmung who have high population of roleplayers, you will likely have to deal with people who will hog the house 1st minute it reopens the server.

So please keep in mind that Lamia's population is quite different from Balmung. I've played in Lamia long ago and there were definitely some plots available back in 3.x

As a current resident of Lamia, I am well aware of this. In fact, I already mentioned that difference earlier in this very thread. But just because we are middling population server and not a locked one does not mean that there are anywhere near enough plots to go around for every active player who wants one, let alone all of the alts or shell FCs hogging multiple plots for the same player or players. According to the last unofficial census we have around 14,000ish active players and there are currently only 4320 plots available (come 4.1 that number will jump to 5760.) Now I realize that not every player, or even every FC, wants a house, but there is still only enough housing for roughly one third of the entire server. I can only imagine the nightmare that it must be on Balmung.

Even if there were enough homes to go around right now and enough left over for people to buy up multiples, remember that the server population is dynamic. Tomorrow we could be the next Mateus. I, personally, do not want a front row seat for that kind of sh**storm.

And regardless of the population of Mateus, Balmung, Lamia, or any other server in the game, it's the callous disregard for others and blind self-interest displayed by certain members of the community in the midst of an already miserable situation (the housing debacle) that really gets under my skin.

My fc house was bought on the very first set of wards, where the majority of people could not afford one. I was even able to wait a bit and save and still had the option to cruise around for specific spots. Does this still count as me being lucky?

Yes, I too was lucky to grab a plot when the 6th ward opened because the rush wasn't there. It took about 6 hours to fill up unlike when the all the wards were doubled which were all grabbed up in less than 10 minutes.

How many people honestly still have a house from the first release of the wards? Most people now that own houses did not get it during that first release.

This right here! I have been camping the housing market on my server for months now on my server, hoping a medium plot will open up with no luck. Fc member logs in one day and goes to themselves "I think I want a house now" and goes look at the plots and finds a medium one instantly, then proceeds to brag to me about how easy it is to get a house and they don't understand how I haven't gotten one yet v.v I was at work so i missed the chance, but I hear a lot of stories like this, friends finding just random plots after a day of looking, its pure luck, some have good luck, others like me have really bad luck xD
