Veteran Reward changes - Big slap in the face for long time vets?

Regarding the "veteran" players that "get nothing" - aren't you already have the permanent discount on subscription prices?
Is this not enough?

Or was I misinformed?

I haven't seen any change regarding sub prices. *shrugs*

Also, I doubt it's a financial burden SE is facing so much as a burden of greed. Just look at FFXV: New Empire" or their announcement of going to a service model "because thaat's the direction the market is going," you know the same market that floods us with pre-orders and DLCs before a game is finished, and other similar problems that are more than facepalm worthy. They're trying to squeeze more money out of us, not recoup lost finances.

I'm only hoping it doesn't impact this game too bad or too soon, because that's how you drain a good game (or franchise) of any meaning or spirit it might have once had. Take a look at Activision's handling of WoW as a moneymaker.

That's what I'm getting from this, at least. My one hope is the one thing no one in their right mind wants - to be wrong.

If you mean Legacy players (which are different and fewer) Then yes, we do. However due to different currencies etc our discount is not exactly... great. For example I know someone who buys time cards because it's cheaper then their legacy Sub price.

My two cents is, veteran rewards, regardless of their name are no status symbol and thus are not really a bother if they just hand them out far sooner, I want this game to succeed and if it helps to give out other FF costumes sooner, then so be it.

The only thing that would bother me is giving out something that they specifically said is exclusive for X time or was understood to be a one time only thing. The event items get a pass because they are like a carnival, a celebration and all should have a chance to enjoy them.

The main point is they (vet rewards) don't have a significant relevance in the lore, they are just for fun. Something like the Legacy Brand or White Raven/Dalamud items do, they are special and tied to the game via a timeline/lore/significant event.

I've played this game since a realm reborn launched.

For me, It' fair enough. We need new players to join this game. I think it's good strategy for new players to continue their subscription.

And, I expect only contents of the game. Rewards don't make me enjoy the game but content is.

All the current Veteran Rewards that aren't the glamour sets, minus the Fantasia, will be purchased from the Achievement guy for tokens by hitting certain amounts of Achievement points.

Nothing about the news post points to financial problems.

I don't really mind if other people have access to them. I just hope that there's plenty of new things to purchase using achievement points for those of us who already obtained everything through the veteran reward system...

I don't mind them switching it around or whatever but I would be disappointed if all the rewards could be gotten in a short time. Not because I think they're a status symbol but for the simple fact that I will miss having the next reward to look forward to.

Fly the Falcon campaign was more proof of this. If you never unsubbed, you were dead last to get your Falcon. Unless you leveled an alt on a road to 60 server to get the free play time, then you don't get the Falcon at all because it pushed your renewal past the campaign time frame.

Seems like they've completely written off long term subscribers. Which defeats the entire purpose of a subscription.

Actually you don't have the right to say whatever you want on a private website. You can only say what the owners of the website allow you to say. So SE could censor any of your statements if they decided to and you have no recourse. Only public speech in regards to the government is protected but other public and private speech is not.

if you want to get into semantic you don't have the right to say anything you want anywhere, there are guidelines to any right/law made.

I couldn't be happier for newer players. Waiting years to unlock a glamour set has never not been stupid. There's a fine line between making people feel special and just shafting everyone else and vet rewards dipped into the latter a long time ago.

Now if only they could fix housing so that the vast majority of playerbase doesn't feel left out..LOL who am I kidding? Whew, sometimes I crack myself up. Fixing housing would require them to admit there's an issue and lord knows they refuse to do that.
