Veteran Reward changes - Big slap in the face for long time vets?

As vets, I don't see any problem with this. We already have our rewards, so we're not really disadvantaged by this - it's not like we paid exclusively just to get these items anyway.
If anything, I think the bigger issue would be the region-exclusive promotions which actually do prevent certain players from getting anything out of it.

The point of paying a sub is to be able to play the game. If you really paid a sub even when you weren't playing just in order to get a bunch of mediocre cosmetic rewards, then you have nobody to blame but yourself for that silliness.

If the only thing players look at before subscribing to a game is "Am I going to get some cool in game items" than it is time to reevaluate the reason you play online subscription based games.

This kind of thinking is unfair since you are ignoring other people's motivations just because you personally think "that's silly".

Sort of like the cash shop thing where people will look down on or laugh at people who bought things from it just because they think "that's silly why would you spend your money on that".

It isn't a very nice mentality to have. Everyone thinks differently and everyone values things differently. Like Vaer said getting into what people personally spend their own money on is pointless.


I mean in my 4 years of subbing a few times I considered dropping sub to take a break, but I figured I would like the veteran rewards so I didn't. It wasn't that I don't enjoy the game I mean I play it a lot, but everyone takes breaks sometimes.

In the end I don't care about these changes because most of the time I paid my sub I played and got the money's worth, but others may have really liked the vet rewards and possibly stayed subbed while not even playing for longer periods of time than I did. I mean I would draw the line personally, but I am not going to say their motivations were "dumb" or "you need to reevaluate" just because I don't understand it.

So like don't start that stuff where you make fun of others for what they spend their money on. It isn't cool. You have no right to tell a complete stranger "how you spend money is wrong you need to reevaluate it".

So yeah, be against the changes, be for the changes, whatever, just don't criticize how other people spend their own money. It's not yours anyway.

I personally don't mind the change, since it allows newer players to feel like they will get to enjoy the rewards sooner; ironically I just got Zidane's outfit, lol. But I do feel like the older players should get "something" for being invested for that amount of time. Now that doesn't have to be anything major or completely exclusive. I'm not asking for a legacy tattoo; though tattoos in general would be nice, XD. Like maybe if you had a subscription prior to [DATE] and were subscribed for at least [#] days, non-consecutively, you get like 50 Aetheryte Tickets, or some Chocobo Feathers (for Dye most likely), or some Allagan coins or MGP Tickets, things not so hard to get but that are a slight thank you for those of us who have put in the time already.

As a veteran, I think this change is very nice. It welcomes the new players and gives them more reasons to resub. I have enough reasons for resubbing, myself, and they never were the rewards anyway.

Actual veteran players get nothing in return while everyone else benefits from the changes.

You'll have accumulated more achievement points which is now a currency it seems.
