I can't help but agree with this, I see the sense in why they made these changes but they needed to sugar coat this a lot better or maybe add something to people who already had the higher tiers, like gold chocobo feathers or somethingSeriously Square Enix? So much for "here's a special thank you for being a great customer for over 4 years".
You know I really didn't want to accept Limit Break Radios opinion that SE doesn't care about their long term player base and continue to only focus on attempts to pull new people in, sometimes at the expense of the experience of their long term players, but time and time again they continue to prove the theory right with their actions. I'm disgusted.

It's been a massively loud complaint (particularly in the JP fanbase) that the veteran rewards were getting way too ridiculous to earn, and at the rate it was going, the next reward would be pushing 6 consecutive YEARS of being subbed.
Also, it was always a bit hypocritical that Yoshi-P was fine with players coming and going (subbing on patch months, for example) to the poimt he encouraged it so to avoid burnout and to enjoy other things, yet the game had items that were impossible to earn without a very long standing and continuous subscription.
We olbies are getting grandfathered in with our current time, so we get everything just the same and any items we hadn't earned under the old system we would've under the new one.
This is better.
Also, there is a breif mention of "veteran points" in the article, so it appears a chocobo feather like system is being implemented, and is likely how the other, missing rewards are now earned.

I was only 30 days from the Leonhart outfit, so...this works for me. 20 days sooner now by the looks of it.

Hmm.... I never even received the falcon mount though, despite being subbed non stop since June 2015. I don't really want it so it doesn't bother me yet but what if they add something I DO want. I don't like this new method bc apparently it's flawed and I most likely won't receive any of the items.

The main part I'm curious about is how the AP as a currency will work. It seems like a bad decision to use it as a direct currency which will decrease your number of AP...that just invites so many more problems. Maybe X amount of AP will unlock the ability to buy it with Gil from Johanas or the Calamity Salvager? Or perhaps once you reach a certain amount of AP its automatically rewarded the same way achievement rewards are?

It's too early to tell since we know next to nothing about it. Here's hoping it'll be a decent system though. The main part I'm curious about is how the AP as a currency will work. Wow, I am even more disgusted now after I noticed that more and more Shop exclusive Items were released.
Coming from AION the veteran Rewards here compared are really really cheap. And now they want to make them available to all on top of that? Really?
Cannot even find the words to discribe how disgusted I am.
I have a feeling it will be a system like "You have X achievement points, here is a list of items you can get for free from me". If you actually spend the AP...then it would be kind of dumb since people would eventually run out(if they do all the achievements) of AP if they bring out new items(unless new achievements they add give 500+ AP per). The main part I'm curious about is how the AP as a currency will work. What a strange attitude.Wow, I am even more disgusted now after I noticed that more and more Shop exclusive Items were released.

Old veterans get to keep all the items they have gained. New players have an opportunity to get them quicker without having to wait several years. Nobody loses anything.
What's to dislike?
If you thought that gaining rewards for being subscribed umpteen months somehow made you "special", think again. It didn't.
