I've been in a few debates lately where people lose their minds when I suggest Samurai may need a buff soon, even if I openly admit that sounds silly at a cursory glance. Samurai's raw damage just isn't quite enough to beat the synergy its counterparts offer. Granted, it's in a much better spot than Black Mage.

Samurai isn't nearly in as bad a position as Black Mage is currently (Worse personal damage than Summoner with less support), or even as bad Monk was in Heavensward (Behind Machinist, Summoner, Bard and Black Mage in damage with no self aggro control and with huge TP issues). It's also not likely to fall nearly that far, it's got a fairly substantial DPS lead over the next best personal damage at almost 200 DPS, whereas during Gordias Monk was only above Black Mage by about 20 DPS.I've been in a few debates lately where people lose their minds when I suggest Samurai may need a buff soon, even if I openly admit that sounds silly at a cursory glance. It also helps that the devs clearly like the job, so if it does end up substantially behind they'll probably buff it massively.
SAM need buffs since DRG was massively buffed for no reason. Also SAM is in a surprisingly worse spot than BLM because it has issues on enmity and NIN and DRG are just too good in the melee spots. Even MNK that is in a better spot than both SAM and BLM gets outshide by how overpowered Disembowel and Shadewalker+Trick are. Both's raw damage are too low for the fact they bring nothing to the party.I've been in a few debates lately where people lose their minds when I suggest Samurai may need a buff soon, even if I openly admit that sounds silly at a cursory glance.
