I want to share my hatred for Alphinaud Leveilleur

Seriously, after being forced to hang with Lyse all the bloody time I missed having my sarcastic half pint elf boy with me, at least Alisaie was fun. I'm just glad I didn't have to deal with dull as dishwater Y'shtola this expac.

I've adored Alphinaud since the beginning. I liked how confident, cocky and arrogant he was, especially considering how he was this little elezen boy that looked like a girl, haha. The confidence was endearing and I love intelligent characters, which although he had his faults, I don't think you can argue that he wasn't intelligent overall. And at least he always felt like he did more than Minfilia....lmao. But most everyone I spoke to hated his guts in ARR. However, I can tell you that he gets arguably the biggest character development in the entire game so far and he becomes quite lovable, in my opinion. Most people I spoke to who hated him before ended up liking him later. He gets a lot more humble and definitely way less arrogant. He is easily one of my favorite characters.

The only way I could possibly dislike him any more than I already do would be if he would turn into a lala.

His sister, on the other hand is awesome. Lyse turned out to be so much better than I thought she would be and I am fond of Min, but that's mostly due to my 1.x experience.

I actually dislike him so much I even skipped over his talking bits this expac.

Both Alphi and Lyse had a sudden event that forced them to change their attitude, the difference is that Alphi was forced to go to the sideline when Estinien and Ysayle joined us, whereas Lyse took a leading role I'd say even above us, it felt like she was the main character. Also Alphi went from bossy to chill, Lyse went from cheerful and clumsy to... whatever she is right now.

I use English, husband uses Japanese. We both hate him equally. Alphinaud is the WORST, with Lyse and Manfillia tied for 2nd.

I think its a 3-way tie for them, with the rest of the scions very close behind. :P

Say what you will about Alphinaud, but he still got the best character progression in the game (with Ysayle), Lyse on the otherhand was a bit boring, I prefered Alisae over her. I hope Alphinaud returns to the WoLs side once again.

Alphinaud is harmless. I put his personality down to being an elf that's wise beyond his years. Yes it can come across as being a stuck up little so and so but so do most elf races is stories. Wisdom and arrogance. Still at least him and the rest of the Scions are out there helping me from time to time. So far, despite having the echo, I've yet to see Minfillia raise a finger to help me. Always treating me as a fetch dog for her but she is just like me so why don't you come along or do it yourself ya lazy madam. Always calling me with "hi it's minfillia " of course it is. You're the only lady I have in my phone book unless Cid took a change in life.

Out of curiosity, those of you that have this hate for Alphinauld, which voice cast are you listening to, English or Japanese?

I don't hate Alphinaud, but I felt the need to reply. I have French dub, since I couldn't stand EN cast in ARR and am not a fan of JP as a language. I chose FR based on which VAs I liked the best from the FR/DE trailers... and I have to say I adore Alphinaud's FR voice. He sounds very sincere and emotional, but not melodramatic like JP or flat like EN tend to be (imo). From what I heard the EN cast has changed pretty much every expansion, so I'm glad the FR cast has been the same since 2.0 (with the only exception being Haurchefant's VA between ARR and HW).

I'd also like to point out I don't speak or understand French, I just really like the quality of the voice work. c:
