Going off past trends, relic generally lands on x.x5 patch, so 4.15 would have fallen into the trend and made sense. 2.2 brought Second Coil as well as patch 3.2 bringing Midas. I would have thought that 4.2 would be the next raid tier.
Basically, we're going to be overdue for relic, if going by Heavensward.
Patch 3.15 relic quest added.
Patch 3.25 relic quest.
Patch 3.45 relic quests.

Welp. This really sucks.
By then there will be a large portion of players using the tomestone alternatives, and SE will have to jump a whole design step to compensate the missing patch cycle. (Meaning two weapons with sparkly alternatives verses 3.) Plus, we don't know the power behind Shinryu EX's drops. Also, isn't the new Deep Dungeon coming around 4.25?
I think this delay will cut out a decent chunk of players from doing the 4.0 relics, even if Eureka is fun and the weapons are good, they'll already be on the side of the alternatives.
It might be better if we knew what Eureka was even hinted to be like in FFXIV. Fate grinding for currency to take on solo bosses on a job by job basis? A physical labyrinth we need to explore? Quest lines in the single Eureka zone? Hunts? ???
....and there's another nail in the Eureka coffin.
I always opted for the alternative routes for weapons verses the relic when I made the effort as the grinds are just so awful pre-nerf, so I was really looking forward to the changes brought by Eureka.
The anima light step really isn't ever getting nerfed, is it?
Since relic is now tied to Eureka, but Eureka is being pushed back to 4.2... does that mean we will have 5 steps to do at once??? (290, 310, 330, 340, 360)
