    This doesn't stop sales. I know both buyers and sellers-- neither of whom give a damn about chests. The buyer just wants quick and efficient clears for "bragging" rates (silly, I know) and sellers just want money. Frankly, I couldn't care less myself. Who cares if someone bought their way to some 340 gear? You don't need it to clear nor would that player be remotely capable. That all said, I want the loot system changed to:

    1-2 = Two chests
    3-5 = One chest
    6-8 = Zero chests

    That seems more than fair while still allowing a friend or two to help out with subbing in.

    Normally I dislike RNG, but personally I don't mind the stingy drops. I think there's a target audience for that, the elite crowd that want to be the first to be decked out in the best of the best. It's not like you need any of that gear for anything except the place that you get the gear for in the first place. That same audience needs that ridiculous grind just to stay the flood of complaints that there's nothing to do, and no challenge to be had.

    The rest of us just wait a few months and nab the same gear within a couple of weeks that the pros spent months edging ever closer to carpal tunnel for. Like, I wouldn't necessarily want to stamp ~my~ name on that kind of system, but it provides some amount of entertainment to watch in action.

    ...just me?

    that's totally not the topic of the threat nor the reason we are complaining about it, I think it's fair to say no one gives 2tons of ***** what others can get faster or not its simply is how it feels to progress currently if lucky you don't care but if you are not it becomes a frustrating wait gamble game despite doing it the same amount of times as everyone else. idk. currently I'm at 333 with body/feet/gloves 340 and 2 acc I haven't gotten a single upgrade and my bis is almost fully augmented allagan piece, so technically I've only gotten 2 out of 12 gear slots from savage from the past 2 month and I that's actually being lucky the books should just be more forgivable.

    The drops aren't meant for free rolls and PUG groups. Statics will usually play it smart by handing out upgrades in a fair fashion usually in the order of DPS>Heals>Tanks (not sure about the order of heals and tanks) to make the progression easier on everyone. The goal really is to just clear the final fight before everything gets hit with the echo bat and the lifted lockouts. Tomes are fine as well. It's annoying but it makes sure you will be ready for whatever that ultimate fight is in October.

    It's easier to get the upgrade tokens from the easier content because they are added later on as a catch-up option. Perhaps SE can adjust the cost via datalog when the alternative methods are added? In the end the datalogs are meant to be a fail-safe backup in case of bad RNG, the main source of gear is still from the chest. Then there's the "necessary evil" of RNG because of the sub-nature for a MMO game. However, I do agree that the cost of datalogs could use some fine tweaking. It does feel a little off-balance at the moment imo.

    The way the loot system is kinda good and bad. To say my team has never seen a scouting head/gloves/boots since week one isn’t an exaggeration. They could implement something like potd where you save your progress with a team then drops already given don’t drop again. Much like stealing in older FFs

    Datalog cost is fine considering it is the capstone, highest-ilvl gear that will last for up to 6 months from the raid tier's release. It's been the same way since Gordias Savage with some minor tweaks. (Belts moved to first floor, weapon upgrade now in third floor, fourth floor weapon is always +5 ilvl than anything else in the game to encourage raiding as the way to get BiS)

    If you cleared the tier even a month after release, your entire raid should be close to BiS by now give or take. Now if you PUG savage weekly, your chances are much less because it's a free-for-all and people just take stuff whether they can use the item that week or not.

    Like in a raid group it's not a wise idea for someone to take a twine item if they don't already have a 330 to upgrade or don't have the means to buy an item to upgrade that week. So it's prioritized to the members who can use it right away. Same with DPS getting weapon upgrades first, since you want to clear things faster each lockout.

    Plus the guaranteed coffer drop in O4S was their way to handle the RNG issue of adding two new jobs due to how many weapons would be available to drop.

    i didn't say it stops them, it would be too easy and more prevalent. at the end of the day you and i only differ by one number in our ideal scenario.
