I agree. It would make more sense to require less books to buy the loot from 3 and 4, as naturally it would take groups longer to clear, thus taking more time to get the loot anyway.Waiting 8 weeks to get 1 drop is nice on paper, but when you stop and consider how long it may take certain groups to clear things to begin with, it's a really long goal. World firsts and servers firsts and hardcore raiders will get their gear well beforehand. It's the other people that are really ultimately hurt by such a huge time lock.
So do maybe 6 on 1 and 2 loot, but only 4 pages for 3 and 4 loot.
I haven't had an upgrade in two months, despite having downed 3s for the first time five weeks ago. I can't win rolls. I can't get any of the upgrade items (highest I've rolled was a 34), and I've lost the mighty one (1) tank drop to my cotank. It'll either be three weeks or the 24man raid before I get an upgrade. I have the lowest ilv of my 7/8 static. It feels kinda crap.
only major issue i have is Scouting, Maiming.
They should do away with Striking and just go Maiming - DRG, SAM, Scouting - NIN, MNK and put STR on all the scouting gear.
I've wondered since 2.0 why melee dps get to be special snowflakes with their gear yet all healers tanks and casters have to share. Either make all classes share with someone else or make no one share, I don't care which (though the latter would get backlash).
Maiming:
DRG, SAM, MNK
Scouting:
MCH, BRD, NIN
Puts all the DPS sharing the gear at 3/3/3 while healers and tanks are 2/2 without needing to add or remove primary stats. Pretty sure monks and samurai can maim just as well as a dragoon.
that doesn't work because a Full Party is 4 DPS not 3. Healers and Tanks are 2/2 because there are 2 healers and 2 tanks in the party, not because there are 2 tank or 2 healer jobs.
also aesthetically that would be weird. for what i suggest the DRG/SAM sets would be mostly Armorcraft, the MNK/NIN sets would be mostly Cloth.
and please don't get into semantics of the naming, that's pointless, all DPS can Maim and Slay, non-DPS can cast as well.
Changes I would fancy seeing are:
- Higher tier pages/datalogs can be exchanged for lower tier gear (i.e. V3S datalogs can purchase Glazes)
- Any 340 gear piece can be exchanged for a datalog corresponding to the floor it drops from.
- Loot restrictions only apply once 3+ party members have previously cleared for the week.
The second change in particular assures you won't get useless gear. Currently, I'm the only one in my static who plays Dragoon often, thus any Maiming gear dropped I don't want is essentially worthless. It would be nice if everyone else could exchange it towards something else. Sure, I couldn't roll on it since it's a unique drop but that sorts itself out as I'll be able to roll on gear.
I mean....stop running the hardest content without a static and thinking drops will be okay? Join a static kiddo.I haven't had an upgrade in two months, despite having downed 3s for the first time five weeks ago. I can't win rolls. I think he said he's in a static at the end of his post. But I don't know why he's in a static that uses rolls as loot distribution and nothing else-if his static was good they would notice that he's gotten nothing the whole time and give him an upgrade item or two at least. It's only fair.
I'd say he's more in a PUG that meets every week. A static should be fair to all its members while doing the best for the group.I think he said he's in a static at the end of his post. But I don't know why he's in a static that uses rolls as loot distribution and nothing else-if his static was good they would notice that he's gotten nothing the whole time and give him an upgrade item or two at least.
