What is it like being Ifrit as a Battle class having one story, then beating him as a DoL/H having another?
A is the storyline. The number is the disciplines. So 1 is battle classes, 2 is DoH and 3 is DoL.

He's pretty much trying to say that it would detract from the story to have beaten it on one class type then go back and experience it again on another type. His concern is the timeline wouldn't make sense to the player since Final Fantasy is a "one character can play all classes" kind of game. I think this is the reason he starts out talking about games where you're locked into a class from the start.

Multiple takes on a single story arc would make sense because it's a different character each time, but FF needs to have a different approach to it.

    A+A+A = A1 / by chocobo - a moogle = B
    B+B+B = Ifrit + Garuda = Whitemage.

    It's all pretty simple stuff.

I think you should implement it! Just make it where you can't go back and experience a "TIME PARADOX". If you love crafting, make it where you can go through the story as a crafters point a view, thats my thing.

In all actuality, if they wanted to fully support a story/content that allowed every class to participate in their own way, and then also have that content available again for the other classes, the scheme would look much more complex than just A1, A2, A3 to B.

    Would look more like:

It makes it an ungodly organizational nightmare to allow people to progress however they want and with whatever class they want. And remember that each A, B and C point is only slightly different from the next, so you have a lot of redundant content for only minor benefits. It also makes content much harder to develop, because for every step they add after C, they have to set up the story in such a way that it would be feasible for all 3 types of nodes to exist (or, if they all converge on one node, it's probably only going to be a "go talk to X NPC/go to Y area for cutscene" type of step in the story).

Meanwhile, a model that separates each discipline type into their own content looks like this:

This one allows the content to be completely different between combat, gathering, and crafting so there's no redundancy, and it doesn't create a cluster***k of progression. It's also much, much more flexible in what story elements are put in and how the story progresses, because there's no need to account for the other two types of classes.

    I think it's a roundabout way of calling you a mage. ^_^

Before I read the translation I thought he was talking about the crafting system where you just use option A a bunch of times.
