This stems from a few things:
Dps who use tp not helping themselves with invigorate or each other with goad and deciding to single target, this can also lead to Dps being scared to aoe because they have too much experience running low on tp.
Tanks not being able to hold multiple mob's.
Aoe on smaller groups (3 is rule of thumb) got nerfed into oblivion as far as efficiency is concerned, it's usually more efficient to single target at that point.
People dont know how to play their job.
Watched opening of castrum m.....yea that one, on my first play through. By the time Id seen it the group already had the spotlights off which began another cutscene and then locked me out the boss. They Beat the boss and left by the time I got to the boss room. No idea where to go, finally found the garbage bin ran up stairs and into magitek guards. So Im sat on the staircase for 20 minutes just watching the cutscenes as they do their run a body short
Same goes for my first run of the praetorium. the group waited, sent a Healer to pick me up when they spotted I was left behind, explained if I skipped I could keep up with them and take part and watch the cutscenes in my inn room (wasnt aware) so I did
Anyway, I feel like there should be a option so things like that dont happen (tick box for speed run then pair you up with other box tickers) if I watch means left behind, I don't watch Im ruining my game to keep others happy who probably got to enjoy it when they played
Fortunately, those are the only two places that those happen in for the whole game, expacs included...but yeah, the devs need to do something about those two dungeons. Honestly, they could just turn the Praetorium final 4 boss fights into one trial for MSQ and make the rest a solo duty or something.
Good news then and I agree that your solution would make more sense if it was manageable. Wasn't excited about skipping through all future higher lvl dungeons if that carried on just to keep up.
It probably won't make you feel any better, but when I first ran them back in 2014 during 2.0 I was told the same things- skip the cs and keep up, or watch them and get left behind. Since I was a healer they bugged me to skip so I could participate in the Ultima fight too. So it's very likely that all the people rushing ahead of you never got to experience it as the devs intended either. Thankfully SE realised that they can't design MMO content the same way they would for a single-player game and didn't make that mistake again. I don't think they'll directly improve the experience but if we can start taking our squadrons into content like they promised we could then it might be easier to get a stress-free run of those instances. Of course, that means that you have to invest the time in leveling them up first...Watched opening of castrum m.....yea that one, on my first play through. I assure you, I didn't watch the cutscenes on my first run through either.
The best piece of advice I can give first-timers who want to watch their cutscenes is: Make a party in PF. State that you want to watch the cutscenes as they are in the dungeon. That way people know what they're in for.
Not entirely a bad story, just a little frustrating one. I don't tank - I have warrior on 60, but it is also where I left it back in HW. I liked it, but tanking gives me serious tanxiety (and I main healer too). Anyway, on Sunday I decided to do leveling roulette with warrior for a cluster aaaaaand landed in Aurum Vale, naturally. The party greeted each other and off we went - first room was fine, up to the first boss. The healer suddenly dies around the end of the boss, I noticed too late he was standing next to me in front of the boss. He apologized, it was fine, we didn't wipe. Just told him not to stand near me or generally in front of the boss, cuz he was going to get cleaved.
Well. The advice was not good seemingly, since his reply was that he was healing me, which yes, thank you, but do it from behind the boss?
Healer: not if I need the fruit... i have ran this a good few times and never been cleaved like that and in the same position so :P
Me: well, now you did, so
Me: just careful
healer: well you could of moved the boss lol
me: I had it turned from the party
He was a mentor. I had the boss completely turned around from others, as normally, and the fruit around that close place is mostly for tanks anyway? I mean there is ton of fruit behind the boss and around it, plus at the first boss it grows back fast. I just... please, healers, don't stand near tanks and in front of bosses, no matter how many times you pulled it off before. You will die (painful flashback of me running from bombs at titan, just to get cleaved by him to my death lol).
The exchange continued for two more sentences or so, but in the end we were called out by a dps for not arguing in 49 dungeon. Mind you, it was fine after, I mean I died once, but that was my fault anyway (I'm not gripping the cds at trash pulls that well still). It just... frustrated meThink I am not going to touch tank for a long time again.
