I just wanted to thank anyone who ran Doma Castle with me last night (I went three times)! I'm not sure if any of you all will see this, but you all were super awesome and nice. Scholar is definitely the class I'm least comfortable with, so thank you for being patient with me!

Had what I'm pretty sure was a troll tank in a Haukke Manor run last night.

No first time bonus, so everyone had certainly gone through here before...he skips the room with the tiny key, and proceeds to pull in both rooms leading up to the locked door despite the rest of us running back to the room that we need. He's also not doing a great job of holding aggro, and is really squishy even for a tank at that level...

So I inspect him, and discover he's wearing a range of tank gear from 15 to 25 (some of it white gear)...and a cosmetic necklace. And a caster bracelet...and no second ring.

I wonder if he's just really new and somehow had managed a clear before, so I checked his lodestone profile (so if he is new I can tailor any potential advice around that)...

Multiple 70s (heals and dps), several 60+ jobs, a smattering 30+. One of the jobs has gear up through O4 normal, including 330 weapon...

Just had to shake my head on that. Fortunately the lovely Samurai and White Mage in the group more than made up for what the tank was up to, and it didn't take much longer than a usual run to clear.

Leveling a monk. I have to say, as fun as this job is, why do some tanks insist on spinning the mobs and bosses for no particular reason?! I had a tank just now that insisted on constantly moving, nonstop, the entire instance. My DPS suffered so much because I couldn't get positionals. It's so frustrating. I totally get avoiding the AoEs and corraling groups to stay relatively togetherfor AoEs, but when you're moving from one side of the platform to the other, circling the group over and over, rotating 90 degrees and back, etc., for no actual reason...UGH.

Because they think they are playing a hack and slash. I have had both DPS and tanks spinning and jumping around the monsters for no reason. They don't realize how ridiculous they look lol

Yeah. You do get new players or focused/single-job players who don't even know some of the other jobs have positionals.

Aaaand you also get the ones who have never recognized / don't know what a cleave attack is, and are blithely unaware they are why two of their party members suddenly died after that one boss attack, because they were out-whirling a Dervish.

All you can do is advise and hope they listen.

Trying my hand at tanking since it sounds less stressful and unlocked DRK. Second dungeon in, and I get a MCH using his knockback constantly. I chose not to say anything; I'll let some other tank with much less tact point out why every other tank is going to hate him for that. Just, ugh. I just wanted to try my best keeping groups together for AoEs, but after a while, I started hoping the mobs would come back and hit the party because it was out of position.

Do those skills even deal damage anymore? Because I thought that was why Fluid Aura got nerfed into uselessness.

Nnnope. Potency removed. Does nothing but irritate basically everyone.

So this isn\\'t so much a story as it is a summation of my quest to level paladin through dungeons. Why on earth do SO MANY players refuse to use aoe attacks? I just ran 2 Bardams Mettles and 2 Doma Castles where the dps refused to aoe even once. Their single target was not bad they just wouldnt aoe even on pulls such as that at the beggining of Doma.

I come from playing several years of WoW and players there often go out of their way to aoe as much as possible even if it\\'s to their detriment. Is there something I\\'m missing here? It\\'s so frustrating having such agonizingly slow runs where pulls take years to die. Rant over.
