Furniture store room is being added. Will have to see how well it works but I am sure lots of people have held onto seasonal furniture since you have to mogstation a lot of it if you want it again.

It's been sometime since they mentioned about that, but wasn't the furniture store room only relevant for moving? Like if you move to a different size house then all furniture will be temporary stored inside the furniture store room for what I assume would be a limited amount of time. Then again I could be wrong. I do wish it serve as an additional bank solely for furniture.
"Patch 4.1 will see the introduction of storerooms, which offer additional storage space for estate halls, apartments, and private chambers. Furnishings normally discarded upon removal can also be placed in storerooms to be used again at a later time.
* Relocation of an estate is not required to access storerooms. "
Looks like your wish is being granted.
Beast tribe currencies and venture scrips are the only ones I've seen explicitly mentioned, though I don't know whether more are expected to follow.
Ooohh, nice
I'd heard about storerooms being added, but didn't know about the (formerly) destroyed on removal being fixed.
So, some currency improvements, and furniture storage. It sounds like maybe SE is finally taking a real look at the inventory issues. While they have a long way yet to go, it's starting to sound promising. Hope they keep it up.

Maybe I read it wrong but doesnt that just mean that these storerooms are only available to people who already own a house/apartment/private chamber? I mean it would still be one step into the right direction but what about all those people that store their stuff on retainers because they dont own those mentioned estates?"Patch 4.1 will see the introduction of storerooms, which offer additional storage space for estate halls, apartments, and private chambers. Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
It's a way of limiting the impact the way high cost bags or bank tabs do in other games (a tactic much more common when it comes to inventory in other games, though you can find plenty of design examples in this game in other areas).. Apartments at the very least are typically readily available, but there is a level/GC rank/gil set of requirements that act as a fairly easy to pass barrier to at least the 100 extra.Maybe I read it wrong but doesnt that just mean that these storerooms are only available to people who already own a house/apartment/private chamber? I mean it would still be one step into the right direction but what about all those people that store their stuff on retainers because they dont own those mentioned estates?
Though that's assuming it's not just for housing items, in which case it wouldn't be all that useful in the first place for those who don't own of the housing options.

My guess it'll be a second list, similar in structure and functionality to the current "displayed" furniture list. The only difference will probably be that the "storage" list won't display furniture, and items can easily be swapped back and forth between the two.
Not the most elaborate solution, but sometimes the most effective solutions don't need to be elaborate.

Not to sound like a smartass, but if you don't even have an Apartment, why would you fill up retainers with furniture?Maybe I read it wrong but doesnt that just mean that these storerooms are only available to people who already own a house/apartment/private chamber? I think they are complaining on the assumption that this new "storage" isn't limited to only placed furniture. Not sure if that detail has been confirmed anywhere, as of yet.
My guess would be that it's furniture only.
Otherwise, I suppose people could be storing limited event furniture, in the hopes to obtain some form of housing in the future.
