[Request] Please Suspend Housing Demolition for NA

To Yoshi-P: Please do not play the double standard games for people just because they're in Japan or USA. Disasters (whether big or small) can happen anywhere, & to anyone on any day, just because a hurricane strikes a specific place doesn't mean the whole world has to be stopped playing for 6 hours, & doesn't mean that the auto-demolition system has to be ceased for them. You're right, it doesn't; but the Dev team is deciding to make the gesture because an area that houses a large number of it's customer base (the United States) was afflicted by devastation.
They made the decision, move on with the day and accept that the dev team is made up of people that can sympathize with the people that have been displaced or aiding those that have been displaced.

And who said this is justice? The concept of Justice isn't involved in this at all.

These kind of things happen everywhere, all the time. This isn't a solution, it's a band-aid fix. The timer is too short. I won't argue that a timer needs to exist; it does. If you no longer play the game, you shouldn't be able to hold onto real estate like that. However, disasters, sickness and life events happen all the time and to expect that every player will play the game each month without fail if they have interest in keeping their house is a bit ridiculous.

I think the timer should be 3 months. This is the length of time most people buy their subs in and I think it leaves a lot more wiggle room for life. It's much more fair and it would prevent us from having to beg SE to pause the timer every time there's a disaster somewhere.

Absolutely spot on! I lost my house after 3 years of sub, I had forgotten to go inside, although I used the teleport constantly. I don't think you should have to go into your house, I think it should be linked to your Aetheryte. This was my personal house, mostly I would go inside my fc house for functions like mending and melding. But I agree that the timer should be much longer for demolition. I also believe this maint is bogus and wasting the small time I have to play the game today! These people that you're holding this maint for probably won't be playing ffxiv anytime soon. I mean the last thing you think about after losing your real house to a storm or even severe damage to it is... hey I gotta get in the game so I can keep my digital house up. No that's not realistic.

Agreed, the system existing is fine, the timer is too short for any real life situation, even situations aside natural disasters, with a longer timer they wouldn't have to suspend auto demolition at all, no one would have to risk their account asking others to login for them.

I wouldn't really say that's true unfortunately lol. When you have people saying things like the following quote, it becomes an argument of what is just:

What's fair and what's an act of justice tend to coincide with each other. If the use of "fair", as per the person in the quote, is to be taken in context, it'd be unfair to not act on the disaster. Being unfair to an entire country is essentially an unjust act. Not sure if that's what the person you're quoting is referring to, but it certainly seems to apply lol.

You think it's compassion, when it could actually just be good PR. You don't know anything about a business's true intentions.

Does it really matter? Looking for the bad in things is always a road to ignorance. It's like Warren Buffett donating a crapload of money to charity every year. They get to write it off on taxes but so what? It still went to a good cause.

It's not, far from it. It's called compassion. SE doesn't have to do it at all.
What's the difference between asking SE or their friends to log on? They still pay their sub.
That's what it is. Don't take it personally, the change is applied to everyone not just NA.
