No, but close enough and we had a war 20 years ago. Eastern Europe and we're always kinda forgotten by everyone lol. Like right now in the past 24 hours so much rain fell in my country that we're having massive floods, bridges are gone, houses are underwater and all, record breaking floods that haven't been seen since the 80s, yet all we got in the international news was a footnote on one of lesser known news sites. If the timer does stop, maybe we can stop it like once a year for everyone. A symbolic gesture. Christmas time would be nice, actually.

This would be awesome if it would stop during times people usually go to visit family. I am sorry you are having horrendous weather, I'm all for spreading awareness since the news over here likes to pick and choose the most "sensational" stories. I'll check international news for details of the flooding.

When Spain catches fire, Italy is hit by an 8.1 earthquake, and Greece floods from severe storms all in the same two weeks then I would advocate for the EU servers to get a break.

Everyone seems focused on the hurricanes when Mexico was hit by a quake and parts of the Pacific Northwest and B.C. are little more than ash and smoke.

Nobody needs this, nobody is thinking about this, it isn't a priority for those people. But what harm will it do to us to save them a little something. Even if it is just pixels?

I don't think something should be done just because it is a nice thing to do.
Take a cancer patient, in and out of hospital for months on months, not being able to get online to get into their house because of how ill they are....it sure would be nice if they weren't penalised for being ill.
It sure would be nice for people who have lost their homes weren't penalised for it by losing their virtual homes as well.

But at the end of the day, FFXIV is a game, and a game is meant to be played. People who play the game are the ones that should get to experience the features of the game.
If you are not playing the game, whether it be by choice, by illness, by circumstance, you can't expect the game to be put on hold for everyone else, on the off chance that you come back to it.

I am not without compassion. I understand how awful it is to go through something that completely messes up your world, and to finally pick up the pieces only to find small things are no longer there.
I understand the sentiment that 'it's only fair' to help out the unfortunate - but it's not fair. It's not fair on those who have personal crises, it's not fair on those who were involved in distasters that weren't on a large enough scale to 'count', it's not fair on those who go out of their way to meet the requirements.
And no, I do not agree that just because they did it at one time in Japan (their own turf) that they are obligated or in any way 'have' to do it again for others. Sure it would be 'nice' - but that doesn't mean it is the right thing to do.

Kinda surprised that nobody still didn't asked ironically to postponed the 4.1 update, because that wouldn't be fair for people unable to play for a long time who wanted to achieve the first world super savage and Shinryu ex kills.

That being said this kind of issue would not be a problem with instanced housing. Houses being demolished is a reason why even if i got the money for it, i feel less and less inclined to buy one. My appartment may be small, but at least i am assured to find it again in the state i leaved it.

I'm here safe in the Midwest and I think this is a good idea. There are a large number of people in North America and the Caribbean areas who are affected by natural disasters right now. It would be a nice gesture on SE's part.

In regards to demolition in general, I've never understood why they didn't implement a timer that started when your sub ended.

I doubt instanced housing would solve anything, from what they say the problem is to store the amount of data generated by each house (furniture position and stuff like that) and that is a thing that will always exist. For them to give unlimited houses they would have to make static houses (you can't change anything at all, or just one or two things, like choosing presets) and i doubt anyone would want that.

Actually wow's garrison that everyone loves to use as an example of unlimited houses were just like that, you could change a REALLY limited number of things on it. So it was obviously easy to implement it.

I'm honestly flabbergasted that anyone could be against this proposal. Why would you not want for people who lost their freaking homes to catch a small break in-game? O_o

That interrupts our own enjoyment. I think many of us can recall the one month vacation the dev team had after working practically all day, everyday for years(?) when HW landed, and the outrage/skepticism that ensued at the thought they would take a break. Basically, the very idea of postponing the update causing fire and fury among those that can play, no matter the reason. I'd imagine that's why no one would be saintly enough to ask for that sort of thing... not that it would ever be listened to.

I'd imagine most of us are not against it, just that many (like myself) don't see it as a big deal in terms of a gesture. Plus there are those that are applying a right from wrong perspective of equality on the matter... and that's not right.

I'm not exactly against it, but i think that instead of doing that every time something bad happens in the world (that is always) they should raise the demolition time for like 3 or 4 months forever. This time, the tragedy happened in a big and well know country. But things like that is unfortunately happening all the time around the world. So it doesn't seem fair that some ppl get this treatment and others doesn't.
