Suggestion for the future of veteran rewards

I've heard that the squall attire is the last veteran reward as SE have been getting complaints about people having to wait ages to get items they want.

So I was thinking, for the future of veteran rewards, how about they add mog kupons? This would essentially be a loyalty reward to buy items from the cash shop or get a discount. So you can buy an item for 4 kupons, or get a 25-75% discount for 1-3 kupons.

This would appease some people who don't like that there's no way to earn cash items in game, give a loyalty reward that could be used indefinitely for the future (since there's always going to be new stuff added to mog station and there's consumables on there) and avoid the problem of having to wait ages to get certain gear, as if you want it you can just buy it, since it's cash shop, or choose to wait for enough kupons.

As much as I love the idea, I don't see it happening as the Square Enix shareholders would proclaim it's lost revenue from the mog station because because can just get stuff for mog kupons. Even if it was only like 1 kupon every 5 years. With the way they're triple dipping (which I am guilty of supporting, but my materialistic voice takes over my common sense voice at times), this weakens one avenue of their triple dipping which is why I don't see it happening.

I also like the idea because it avoids all the pitfalls of the veteran rewards system, people won't have to wait ages for a particular item because you'd basically be able to choose which reward you get once you have 4 kupons. I also think it's a good way to do a new veteran rewards system since I'm willing to bet the Dev time that used to go into the old veteran rewards system now goes towards the cash shop anyway.

But I also don't see it happening, because what paladinleeds said is true, while this would be great for people who don't use the cash shop on principle or can't afford to, since it wouldn't be costing SE anything if they had a way to get the cash items anyway, it's the people who do use the cash shop that are the problem, SE would be losing money from them. This system would basically be giving away free money.

Mog Station items cannot be stored, which means that with the current glamour system I have actually stopped using the Mog Station entirely because my inventory (and brain) cannot cope with the glamour items jamming my retainers up. It's possible to need more space than even the maximum number of retainers can provide at this point in the game, so until they sort out their creaking system I'm going to say this would cause the problem to worsen.

They could give out some feathers like the ones you get from recruiting friends, for dyes and old levelling gear.

I actually like the idea of coupons.

However as a veteran award, a specific item for a certain amount of time that you are subscribed best signifies how much of a veteran one is. I mean if I see someone wearing the squall outfit, I would immediately know that this is a veteran and loyal player of ffxiv for the last four years. You won't get that distinction if you are free to select which items you can get.
Maybe a combination of two would be better, some items you can get by coupons but at the same time there are things that you can only get by subscribing long enough in the game. I mean, I couldn't care less for the portrait of Hildebrand, I can't wear that thing, you might as well just assign that to the coupon system, so you can get that anytime. But to get a specific item like a dress of a fabled FF hero, you probably need to work harder for that.

In any case, I also agree that SE will probably not use a coupon system, but really I agree, it is a nice idea.

I would prefer veteran rewards actually reflect the veteran status, and the current arrangement does exactly that. The whole point is to reward people who are long-time customers, not to reward people who sub on-and-off, or new customers. So why is it even worth mentioning that people are complaining it takes too long to get what they want?

"Having subscribed for ages" is the whole point of Veteran Rewards.

As nice as the idea of the coupons are...I feel that they would just continuously stockpile for some people and get zero use. Sure, there are Fantasia and dyes that you could get if you were so inclined...but not everyone uses a Fantasia(I bought some since they were on sale...and not even sure if I will ever use them, and I don't particularly like those metallic dyes). The rest of the stuff, if you already have it and you're still getting the coupons, there would need to be other uses for them(I won't say subscription time unless it's like 5k coupons for X days of time because that would defeat the way you attain them in the end). Maybe somehow have it translate to FF related items in the SE store? Though that would also be a bit of a stretch...

It's worth mentioning because that's exactly why they've discontinued the current system, there are no more veteran rewards because people were complaining they needed to wait an entire year just to get a glamour item they want.

They're constantly releasing new cash shop items so there will always be something on there for you, if you get a kupon, say, every 2 months, they add like 3 cash items a month on average, by the time you have 4 kupons there'd be 21 new things in the cash shop and you'd be able to get 1 of them.

They've already replaced the veteran program with timed subscription events like the one we are in right now, the fly the falcon campaign.

They already said this was their new way to do veteran rewards because it fulfills the same purpose (keeping players subscribed consistently) without needing to sub an incredible amount of time.

What rewards future campaigns will feature is anyone's guess, but glamour and mounts and minions are to be expected.

Or they could give us more retainers as an option as well.
But since they made way with how long players actually have been subbed as rewards i guess it would not matter as much
Everyone gets a chance for rewards within a shorter timeframe now so it really is no longer deemed "Veteran Rewards"
Oh well, it is how it goes, cannot always satisfy everyone
