So Omega storyline is that what are you saying? We need more Allagans, more Ascians, more tie-ins with the MSQ.
I want a progression raid that provides answers to long-lingering questions and mysteries of FFXIV lore. I want this story to be filled with love and drama starring the characters we already know and love, like the scions themselves. I want to fight bosses which tie into the MAIN lore of the world. I don't wanna fight a NEW threat that is only relevant during the cycle the raid is featured.
Coil was that. It was INTIMATELY tied into 1.0 lore. It actually was 1.0's final chapter. None of the raids that came after did anything like it.
Leaving behind whether or not the story you're trying to tell would mesh well, the issue at hand is why would they have something as large and complicated as intrigue within the ranks of the Ascians made a part of the raid story as opposed to the main plotline?
I'm just not convinced that you can have something intimately tied to the Ascians or Zodiark or whatnot and have it be divorced from the MSQ. That's sort of the Bread and Butter of the plot: Ascian shenanigans. It deserves a spotlight rather than be part of the raid.
I'm sure that there are stories that exist in the universe that can be told, I just can't think of many things that on their own are worth looking at. Things like what happened during the unknown Astral and Umbral eras could be interesting, but there's sort of an issue of how you can really tie those in to the main plotline. If you go waaaay back to the start in the era of gods then maybe we might encounter powerful beings that existed at the beginning of time, but there's a narrative issue of why oh why would those beasts still exist today? And how do you adequately tell the story of the bygone era? I don't know that those are easily handled. VA does it well, but I'd argue not well enough, but 24mans are for spectacle, so it doesn't really matter that much.
I guess at the end of the day I just don't expect them to do really good storytelling in a series that is mostly comprised of short cutscenes at the beginning and end of a floor. There's not really a whole lot of real-estate for the plot. I don't mind personally, but unless they really decide to step up the production around raids there just isn't enough time IMHO.
One day I'll be the MT mountain I want to be... But that day is not today. (As of Patch 3.2)
iirc star flake has only killed o1s and o2s he's complaining because he knows he won't be allowed in.

No way. I've played too many games where the final chapter of the lore was locked behind raiding. Let these stay as side stories only.We need more Allagans, more Ascians, more tie-ins with the MSQ.

Let me understand this.... You can't clear the easier content but you want access to the harder content.... Great debate...
1.0's final chapter was End of an Era. Coil explored more about the cause, and gave Alisaie some development, but it wasn't tied to the overarching narrative. Omega is looking to be similar, but revolving around Midgardsormr and his place in history. We need more Allagans, more Ascians, more tie-ins with the MSQ.

This is not the core of the debate. Unfortunately, this topic has blown up which I did not anticipate. If I had known this, I would have put a more detailed opening post, rather than a statement. The arguments now are snippets at the start of the topic. My thoughts on the topic are as follows:
I do support an initial lockout of people who have not cleared 04S. The reason for this being that the feedback SE receives on Super Savage will not be convaluted by people who have almost no raiding experience or have the odd "this content is too hard" complaint. However, I do believe the lockout should be lifted once the Ultimate Savage content in itself becomes obsolete so even players who do not have the ability or feel the necessity to clear it can also get a taste of the content. To me, it does not matter what someone's abilities are in order for them to enjoy content. Be it that they do not have a static, or do not have the time or simply do not have the skill. I know plenty of people who would love to dip into Ultimate Savage, regardless of them not being able to clear O4S and I find that there is nothing wrong with that. I don't feel entitled enough to content to say that people do not deserve to be in there. When Ultimate Savage is released and five months have passed and the content has become somewhat obsolete, I don't feel affected at all by more casual players who just want to enjoy the fight. For me, most of the enjoyment of Savage comes from clearing, but this is not the case for all people. Some people enjoy this content just for the sake of joining and experiencing it, regardless of what they are capable off. That has always been my stance. If it does not harm me, why can't other people enjoy it too? Personally, I will not meddle with this topic any longer. My stance is clear and I respect that not all people will agree with it. That is after all what a discussion is about. I have been harrassed in game, albeit only once for the ungodly idea that in due time, all people should be able to enjoy Ultimate Savage, regardless of player skill. That is why I have also requested for this topic to be locked.
Have a nice day.

Just for information but there already did that type of ultimate content in 2.X with the "savage" version of T6-T9 and it was gated behind clearing T9 normal (at this time they was no story and savage, only one mode normal = current savage).
So nothing new, and nobody did complain (or not as much as now).
Locking this content behind V4S will help to improve quality of DF team. Currently if you use the DF all the omega are lock: you need to do V1S to do V2S etc.. only way to skip that (and it is stupid since you lost all your loot) is joining a team with the access.
A someone say previously, there is good chance that you will need to be ilvl 340 before entering it and this will not be possible for people which did not clear at least V3S ^^.
This content will be eventually "open" to everyone when the current savage will get echo with 4.2 and that we will all overgeared so it is not locked, it is only temporary locked.
Because its content that is for players who can kill O4S? I mean if you can't even beat that how do you think will you be able to kill something that is even harder or why should you go in? The only thing that would happen is that people demand nerfs because they don't understand that this is content for maybe 1%-5% of the playerbase.
