But, I genuinely think, other than Alphi, Yugiri would be a hit as a representative of FFXIV. She already has 2 familiar costumes, and while Lyse has as much/more story relevancy, but Yugiri being our first instance of the Auri race made especially for FFXIV could give her more appeal for the crossover.

I don't think Alphinaud would make for an interesting character. On the Arcanist side of things, Y'shtola's already been given some of the potential moves he might have, so that only really leaves the carbuncles. I'm unsure if you could really make a character good and interesting based off of carbuncle minisummons.

On the other hand, there's always Alisae. We don't have a red mage represented anywhere yet. And if they're reluctant to add Yugiri for whatever reason, they could potentially throw in Thancred for some GLA/ROG hybrid fighting.

I was thinking more that Alphi and his Carbuncle of choice play as one cohesive unit, but act as two targets. They attack in tandem, so you'll want to try to rid him of his carby to cut his offense. I'm stuck referencing Smash again, but think Ice Climbers/Rosalina and Luma in that you're playing two characters at once. Dissidia still lacks this kind of character, and probably couldn't on PSP considering how Yuna was handled.

My concern with Alisaie is she wouldn't have anything new to add at all to Dissidia. Her being a Red Mage is important to FFXIV, but a magical sword weilder with skills that act as a gap closer and another that jumps out is kinda... Unispired in Dissidia.


Thinking more, wouldn't Lyse clip into Tifa's and Prishe's different lady-monk styles? Also, what about the Eorzean Alliance? Merlwyb or Aymeric?

I'm unfamiliar with Prishe, but Lyse is probably more of an elegant pugilist than Tifa, who's more of a brawler/kickboxer. Lyse is much lighter on her feet, at least in the cinematic.

Ametrine raises an important point I mentioned in my previous post which warrants further mentioning as to why it's highly unlikely you will see any Garlean as a playable character in Dissidia. The development team for the previous Dissidia titles on the PSP mentioned in contemporary interviews that their design brief for the game was that each character was to be unique in both play style and appearance (which they found very difficult to do), hence this is why for instance Vivi from FFIX, despite being a highly popular character, was never added to Dissidia either, as there is already a BLM character in the game (FFXI's Shantotto).

As I mentioned earlier Gabranth from FFXII is already in Dissidia and so satisfies the 'Judge' type character in fancy armour connected to an evil empire, meaning, no Garleans are possible (lets face it, Garlean legatee like Gaius are clearly based on Archadian Judges from FFXII). And a final nail in that coffin, there are already gunblade users in Dissidia too (Squall, Lightning) so even their weapons wouldn't be original. Hence I am going to once again reiterate that I do not think it likely there will be any Garlean antagonists added as playable characters in Dissidia.

As for Yshtola representing FF14, I think they went to look for a good female character, so as to increase the females in the roster, and that it could be possibly that they already know she will stay alive all the way to the very final MSQ, a characteristic present in all representatives (yeah, even Tidus fit that).

Though SE could have just used the deplander to represent 14, that way everyone of us could have felt being a part of Dissidia lol.

They've been foreshadowing Y'shtola's death since 3.0. Her catgirl plot armor is strong, but there are cracks. Anyway, didn't they release a Dissidia render of Derplander? Or am I wrong?

Prishe has (probably) every single MNK skill from FFXI and her gimmick was skill chaining them off of each other (HP attacks being Asuran Fist, Nullyfying Dropkick, Banishga and... a fourth one I forget the name of). Tifa was feints, I think.

Tifa was able to cancel out of her moves and dash toward/behind an opponent, yeah. Auroral Uppercut was Prishe's other HP attack.

Prishe was much quicker than Tifa, but I don't know if that really means much.

A great villain (though sadly underrated). His interesting past gave him an insane mind, so maybe his goals would be beyond Materia and Spiritus, seeing that everything and everyone, be mortal or god, shall be purified. His abilities would be a mixture between Dragoon, Bahamut, and Golem.

Besides, he was the original (and in my opinión) best FF14 villain.
