Honestly, I prefer them simply because I smile a lot more when I'm a lala over any of the other races. They put me in a good mood.

Lalafells have a certain fun factor attached to them. I love them to bits, but had playing one ruined by an old FC.
I never correlated the fact no one in the tiny FC playing one was due to the leaders hating the race by concept, so when I logged in super excited by my new look, I was dealt a deluge of really uncomfortable baby body humor jokes. One leader openly admitted I broke his heart as my avatar no longer matched his feelings for me. I was a gross baby now that these guys couldn't have sexy fantasies about anymore and they pushed me out for it.
I was so traumatized I left the game altogether for a few months and started on an entirely new character when I came back, and I'm pretty sure this is why the jokes put on Lalafells (eating popoto people or punting them like little footballs) bother me so much.
Now, I'm so used to the camera angles on the tall races it's hard to swap despite how badly I want to give those old assholes a middle-finger and play the cute race.

I've never played an Lol-I-Fell but this game wouldn't be quite the same without them.

I am so sorry you went through that. Your former FC was full of jerks.Lalafells have a certain fun factor attached to them. I love them to bits, but had playing one ruined by an old FC.
*snip for brevity*

I know all about camera angles. My first character was an elezen and when I switched to lalafell it took me several days to get used to being so low to the ground. I had to adjust the settings to have less grass detail so I could see.
Now, I have trouble playing anything non-lalafell. The camera is too high! Go fig.
If you ever do try going lalafell, let us know in the "Show Us Your Lalafell" picture thread. You'll be welcomed with open arms.

Aww, </3 That's horrible! But I can understand why it would turn you away from it. I had a completely different experience. Smaller FC, everyone was super excited because they hadn't had a lala member before, they were all cooing over how cute my toon was. XD-snip-

I like being small and cute. ^^ I've tried other races, especially because I feel like playing a woman with a good physique will motivate me to do the work necessary to have a similar figure (lazy about working out) but it never feels right. Also I like having smaller mounts and our emotes.
It's oddly satisfying being the only lalafell in a group, I guess because I stand out so much being so tiny.
Just a hint for people having problems with the camera angle: You can adjust the angle from the game settings so that the cam isn't on the ground when playing a potato. I have my cam quite a bit higher than default.
I have always been playing short characters in games. Dwarfs in Lineage II, Hobbits in Lord of the Rings Online, Dwarfs in Rift. So naturally Lala is my number one race in FFXIV.
Lalas have best animations, emotes and are generally funny and cute. It always makes me smile when I log in and see my character.![]()

It's the only race I find fitting of the whole caster/healer job.
