    I think that was a half-joke, half-shot at how overprotective a lot of recording labels are over music that they own.

    Still, I doubt that a copying using soundbites rendered in an MMO would garner the attention of such, nevermind to such an extent that they'd go after SE for it.

    I don't know. Nintendo is wayyyyy over protecting of their copyrights for example. Some companies go way too far, and I wouldn't be surprised if it were true.

    And you'd be wrong. If record labels are willing to file DMCA complaints against a mothers youtube video of her baby dancing to a prince song that lasted less than 20 seconds then yes, they will go after anything they can. If people create videos of protected music being played inside FF14 then you can almost guarantee that no only will there be take down requests but also lawsuits against SE unless SE can show they are definitely not in favor of it and are taking actions against those people who create those videos.

    In short, the American music industry is full of over zealous lawyers and SE is only trying to cover their own asses with that statement...and really I can't fault them for it.

    But as with many things, what SE says and what SE does aren't always the same. So upload at your own risk.
