MMO weren't a niche, MMO is a niche XD
it's nowhere near a LOL, DOTA, PUBG, CS, Overwatch or even a single player game. It requires a dedication that most ppl doesn't want to give. That is why i said it would be a niche inside a niche.
And I understand what you're saying, even though MMO is a niche its still lucrative. but let's face it, it would still be a niche inside a niche and VR is too new, almost none have it, FFXIV already don't have much resources i doubt they'll want to invest in something that will get just a little fraction of the playerbase.

I get what you're saying, but with the game's control system (the big hotbar system), and some of the movements you do, it would be a horrible experience if you ask me. I can see it making most people puke due to disorientation. To me, VR suits games like Elite Dangerous, Assetto Corsa, etc. Games that have dedicated peripherals designed for those games, not standard controller/kbm affairs. Elite Dangerous with a HOTAS, feels natural. Assetto Corsa with wheel and pedals, feels natural. VR can expand on that. But a game like FFXIV, I feel the VR would cause a disconnect.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

Yes, but the average MMO doex not require you to lay down for a $300 peripheral device. Maybe in a few years, if the headsets become more reasonable so that the install base gets larger, but at this point, no matter how cool it would be, it simply would not be profitable enough to justify the cost of developing it.

I think you misunderstand, the OP wasn't saying turn the game into a VR only game, he said to add a VR feature so that both VR and non VR players can play the same game, that gives the game flexibility for players to choose to go VR or non VR, just as it is currently flexible to choose to play it on PC or console.

It had rather high system requirements for PC, higher than what was typically available.

That's what I'm talking about though, having a VR set right now is pretty high-cost and a high investment to make full use of it. Delegating resources to make the game be VR-accessible to that small group of players is the last thing they should be focusing on, less we want another repeat of LoV appealing to a very minuscule (if any) amount of players at the expense of other content.

We can't even get decent or updated textures, why on earth would they make an option for VR? Not trying to be a downer but don't your breath for something like this.

Don't listen to negative nancies nothing ever got done by being silent.

I like the idea of VR if only for just walking around and taking in the view or chatting with friends.

Almost none so 1 million PSVR not including HTC VR and the Occulis rift can't spell it but i'm sure those have sold just as well as PSVR, how is that almost none?
