Hm... why do you have trouble with Toll of Warden. I havent done Lord Errant yet. But having done others; I believe that every main quest could be done without combat; For example: Toll of Warden you can negotiate with both summoners.

There's the option to fight or parley, but you're pretty much forced into parleying because if you try to fight, your NPC companion dies right away. I'm all for having both options for people that want to RP or are on their Weaver or whatever. But even if your character is strong enough to take on the enemy mobs all at once, your NPC gets killed pretty quick because she runs up and pokes the mobs in the face like an idiot. Plus, you can't even tell your NPC is so fragile in the first place. Their HP and MP shows up as ??? for some reason.
I'm not saying these quests are impossible, I'm just saying it would be much more enjoyable and much less frustrating to have a companion with a brain. Overall I actually really like the story and can't wait to see what happens next. The final quest is definitely worth seeing, but if getting there involves so much frustration, then I can't see a lot of new players being attracted to and sticking with the game.
