Except they did actually make a female-scaled version of the outfit. Same with Cid's, and some of the Gold Saucer outfits.

It's probably as simple as changing a tag in their item database, and why they aren't or haven't done it, I don't know.

Its not as simple since they still need to have the models of the gear ready for every race - if something is male or female only that means that most likely only the models for male/female exists.

And seeing how complicated it seems to even adjust bunny ears for male head-shapes...

But that's what I'm saying, they already have the models for Aymeric & Cid's gear converted for female characters, as well as some of the NPC Gold Saucer gear. IIRC you even see an NPC in the Astrologian quest line wear the male Riviera outfit.

Other stuff -- like the bunny outfit -- isn't there yet, but for Aymeric & Cid? It's been there since they were added.

By all means separate the hair from the gear I'm down. But could we also please make it so single character things can be used on the retainers of that character? I actually bought the Aymeric set wanting to use it just for retainer glamour and obviously much to my disappointment I could not use the hairstyle. These limitations seem awfully silly when we're paying real money.

Maybe that team of individuals that create gear,emotes, and mounts that have nothing to do with the dev team. Could I don't know be hired so they have more staff to do male/female gear, emotes, and mounts.

There's no precedent for them gender unlocking attire after it starts gender locked which makes me think it won't happen.

There actually is. The Thavnarian sets in-game used to be separated by gender, so female characters could wear the bustier set and male characters could wear the bolero set, then in a later patch SE changed it so that female characters could also wear the bolero set.

Of course, it's kind of a shitty move to unlock outfits for one gender only without offering an equivalent option to the other gender. When someone brought up the disparity to YoshiP at one of the producer letters/Fanfests he seemed genuinely surprised to learn that the disparity existed, so that's probably why we haven't seen a repeat of that "release two outfits; one female-only and one unisex" since.

Thanks, wasn't aware of that. Always thought the bolero set had been unisex from the get go. Updated my post.
