It still wouldn't be great, but it would at least be better than the current setup, which actually discourages me from spending money...

If I've bought a few optional items for my character, I'm less likely to want to upgrade and level a new character because I know that character won't have any of these items.

Conversely, if I pay the upgraded sub, I'm not going to want to spend the money to buy these items for each additional character.

At this point, they could retroactively make these account wide by ensuring these items are purchasable from the calamity salvager on every character on the account (and maybe some gold feathers for anyone who has bought them for multiple characters, like X feathers for each character you bought it for after the first).

Cash shop items in other MMOs tend to be account-wide (with obvious exceptions like jump potions, renaming, etc.). It'd be nice if SE followed suit, here...

Yeah, I love my alts, but it is discouraging to not have some stuff on them. I wish they would do something about the disconnect.

I have a house my main, can't use it with my alts, etc etc etc.

You would think that if I pay more for a service, they would make it just a bit more player friendly.

The only great thing about alts is, I have three retainers per character XDD

I only use one character at all times and even I think that locking most stuff to a single character is cheeky.

I've not used the cash shop at all since its implementation sans the Eternal Bonding goodies, but the sale might see me pick up a few things, I do hope they start making more stuff account wide.

IMO I think all cash shop purchases in regards to minions, mounts, glamours, emotes should be account wide to all characters on the account while keeping consumables such as dyes and fantasia and furnature items as single character per purchase. Though the bigger annoyance to me is that if I make an alt on the same world as my main my alt doesn't have access to my house on my main or an easier way to transfer things from 1 character to another since I haven't found a way to mail anything to an alt either after making one as an experiment.

I think this is once again a case of terrible implementation rather than them being against the idea.

I seem to recall them mentioning once that all account wide stuff had to be saved in a database and they didn't want too much stuff in there for stability reasons or something?

But if they changed it for stuff bought on mogstation, to allow any character on the account to buy from calamity salvager instead of the current mogmail system maybe they can get over that hurdle.

Of course can't really buy an 'emote' from the salvager so that's still an exception.

Sure you can. You can purchase dances from the gold saucer, those are emotes, they can put them on a scroll like the dances.

Also when you buy them from the mog station they come via moogle mail and you use the item to learn the emotes.

So they could use the item on the calamity salvager. Perhaps they could also implement a check like they have for unique + untradeable minions you already have when they drop in a duty, so if you have it, it'll say "You already have this emote and can not purchase it."
