Is it too much to say thank you?

Sorry if this thread is a little salty I've been going through a lot irl. I recently game back to the game after a while hoping it would cheer me up... sadly I only feel worse. I just personally feel like healers are far too often taken for granted in this game. I mean hell even in overwatch you're given a lot more praise for taking the role of support. I guess what I'm getting at is is it too much to say thank you to your healers? Just to show them that you appreciate them taking the time to support you in your adventures. I know one shouldn't do the job for praise but its nice every once in a while.

If a heals is awesome then I normally send them the commendation over the tank depending on how they do since I believe the Healer role is harder than the Tank one, but I don't automatically give praise to anyone. If you're doing damage on the side and easily keeping the tank/party in a safe HP range then that's great, if I see you healing on auto-pilot without doing much else then I'm more inclined to thank the dps, if they're doing their job well, since they actually have to stick it out with long wait times.

Essentially, while people may not personally thank you for healing, players usually give their thanks through commendations in the Duty Finder.

Do you as a healer take the time to thank your DPSes for making the runs possible even after suffering longer queues than yours? Guessing, Not very often.

When DPS go out of their way to help a low mp healer, with manashift or feinting for a tankbuster to help the tank save face not popping a cd, it usually goes unnoticed because tanks and healers are the self proclaimed heroes of the party.

Healer is a role. It has responsibilities. Go up and beyond those (dps your socks off is probably the easiest metric, or do mechanics in place of the dps, like picking up totems for the vanu boss in neverreap.)

You should not have to be thanked for doing your role.

Just going off the experience of leveling from 60 to 70 whm healers do deserve a thank you even if they just do their role. They have to put up with tanks that don't use cooldowns/pull too much or not get hate on everything. (If it's name is orange pick it up tanks). And of course there are dps a dime a dozen that don't do mechanics or stand in ouch because "mah dps so important". #saltywhm

Yes actually I do. I always thank my party for the run. There's no need to get hostile.

I thank every party member after every dungeon run for their efforts, even if the run was rocky. But I don't just start praising people for doing their job, nor do I expect any supreme amount of praise for fulfilling mine. Occasionally, if there was a sticky situation and I did something to, I guess, "save" the run/pull/whatever, maybe I'll get a "That was awesome" or something, but I don't expect it. I don't even expect commendations, because the only one who can see them is me, and I don't care that much about another fat chocobo mount.

For doing the basic requirements of your job, a simple "thank you" at the end of a dungeon run or even a commendation should be more than enough. Don't expect people to just start praising you for it though.

You should play the game to enjoy it. Not to seek the approval or praise of a bunch of strangers.

If i was being hostile you'd feel it. Lol.

I run as a healer for the carry power, not the thanks.

I don't expect to be thanked. I don't thank the tank for tanking enemies or the DPS for killing stuff, so I don't think they should be thanking me for healing.

I think at endgame if you do a good job you will get the thanks through commendations, and the opposite if you make a mistake. The last two runs I've gotten 3x commendations because I was near the top or top in aoe dps (we were doing wall-to-wall pulls), but I also had two runs where I was pushing DPS too hard and let the tank die, and I got 0 commends for those two runs.

Just sitting there and healing while casually doing a bit of damage will get you a commend as well usually. But to get them from DPS you really have to earn it.

I honestly think it would be more awkward if we ran through a dungeon, then at the end some guy goes "Thank you for healing us, healer!", then poof disappears. A good/fast run takes effort from everyone, not just the healer.

The other day, I rescued a player out of the first Llivia fight in Castrum Meridianum just before the lock, made an imperial salute and said "it's okay, no one like this boss anyway".

Got six commend out of this.
The world is unfair, that's the only truth about it.
