How ironic...somebody mentioned Bardam's Mettle, and now I have a new tale to share...and Kaiva is extremely irritated by this. So irritated I might punt something small...

I'm not one for mentioning names, but believe me, I know who you are, tank and healer that abandoned me and another DPS. It must be nice to insta-queue into anything else if you just rage-quit over something so stupid. I won't mention names, but I know who you are, WHM from Faerie and WAR from Gilgamesh. If I could report you, I totally would - maybe see if you can't do any dungeons whatsoever for a month straight. Ugh.

So this is what happened. I queued into Bardam's Mettle as a SAM, the two classes mentioned above, and a BLM. The tank asks for double pulls, and the healer seems to oblige. Sure enough, the tank double pulls, and I'm working on hitting my AOEs. In the midst of this, I notice the tank is constantly dropping to critically low HP. Like, at one point, it was literally under 10HP and somehow the healer got him back up. I don't know if the tank popped any CDs or not - wasn't paying that close enough attention. I even said to myself, "One of these two or both better pick it up. Oh god...the tank is going to wipe isn't he?"

Bingo.

Tank wipes. Then the healer wipes.

Then me. Then the BLM. Okay fine, I say to maybe, maybe they'll do smaller pulls. That's usually what happens in my experience in this dungeon - hell, I've done it myself when I ran it as a tank. Where in the run does this happen, you may ask? Is it the pull after the first gate? Is it the pull with the mob and the three enemies at the second gate. Nooooo, no not at all. This is the very first bloody pull. So what happens next? The tank apologizes - but before that message pops up in the log, the WHM is long gone. Like out of the dungeon entirely. Me, the BLM, and the WAR realize this, and the WAR simply says, "Welp," and then drops out of the dungeon himself. Leaving behind two DPS who had nothing to do with their lack of communication, or their own screw-ups. Listen, players...stop being such assholes. Seriously. Especially when the wipe is caused by impatience and lack of communication. Is that so hard? Normally, I don't call people out like this, but since I've been on such a roll today...

WHM from Faerie and WAR from Gilgamesh, you both suck. Hope one of these days, you guys have to wait 30 minutes in queue, and then your party abandons you during first pull. Jerks.

This is why the first boss of Bardam's Mettle should be part of their introductory tutorial when they use these pots. The core mechanics are there to make a decent tutorial. Add stack and spread markers, proximity damage tethers and AoEs. That sort of thing.

I don't mean to trivialize your issue here, while I mainly heal I have been leveling BRD and I know the queues can be awful. While I'm sorry you had to wait I have to wonder if you'd even have to wait that long because as a healer who sticks around in Aurum Vale even after a tank DC's at the start I can say it generally doesn't take more than a couple minutes.


That aside your animosity for these players is troubling and makes me think there is more to the story. I hope whatever it is you can find resolution with it because that is a really angry post for what happened in my opinion. Best of luck working through it.

Doing it on BRD for EXP and this is the first time I have done a SB dungeon on anything other than healer. I feel like that place is a cake walk personally, it's one of the few dungeons from SB that I will (politely) ask the tank to pull more in if he's doing single pulls just because otherwise I get bored.

Get a PLD, WHM and RDM so I am set for this to be a quick run especially cause the WHM and RDM have around my health as a BRD in 270 gear so I know they are past this.

This WHM is so. Effing. Bad.

I have never seen someone OOM so much while pushing like no DPS (single target holy, neither WHM DoT, no DPS on trash) and also failing to heal the tank so much. My Refresh is literally being used on CD so that the RDM and Clemency can also help keep the tank up. I have never felt so helpless before in this game, after offering the minimal support I could I just had to kill things as fast as possible. I even swapped cross roles for the stun despite it only having 5 yalm range to help keep damage down.

Thankfully the tank and RDM were very skilled and my Refresh was up for each boss fight. Somehow I didn't think to look at the WHM's gear but now I wonder if they might have been wearing Vit accessories or something?

Either way DPSing is scary! I feel like I had no control over that dungeon at all and my safety net was just a wet paper bag.

Also before anyone asks yes I did offer the WHM advice but he didnt respond at all or seem to take it.

I had a tank in V3S eat a critical hit in dps stance. When we said something about it he said that's how everyone's supposed to do it, and we were terrible for not being able to adjust. Maybe the pro players do tank it in deliverance, but I'm certain they also throw on a defensive cooldown as well.

I'm not sure what kind of wait times you're asking about here. If it's the DPS queue times, then yes, they're currently 30+ minutes, which I can attest to. If you're talking about healer/tank queue times, they don't matter in this case. If you're talking about waiting for someone to come back after a D/C, nobody D/Ced in that run. If you're talking about waiting for a party to refill, well, as a DPS trying to refill an entire party, you're very liable to get a bunch of people coming and leaving once they see they have to wait, especially tanks and healers.

In the same sentence that I mention queues I talk about leveling BRD, yes I am talking about DPS queues. I don't know where you get the impression I'm asking about anything, there is literally not a single question mark in that text. I mention DCing tanks because that is the only way I've ever wound up without a tank in a party I started in.Considering it took no more than 2 minutes in my experience I don't think that the rest of your post makes sense.

Also as a healer when I show up in a party with just DPS I just ask them if they're willing to keep moving. I've had some awesome fun that way including a time that I on WHM 3 manned the first boss in Ala Mhigo with a SAM and a BRD.

I'm sorry you've had poor luck with this but we are on the same data center and my experience is just vastly different.

Edit: In my original post you quoted I sympathized about DPS queues but when I say I doubt she waited long I mean for a new tank and healer. In progress dungeons are always first in line, the only way you dont get new party members is if you dont click the box to say you want to recruit them as party leader.

Kicked out tank who refused to tank. Even thought it was a 4 man.

Kicked healer who said they liked to challenge themselves by letting tank hp get as low as possible before healing. We wiped like 8 times.

With Lustrate/Tetra/Benediction/Essential Dignity/Lightspeed/Swiftcast I don't understand how a healer can even consider that a challenge unless they plan to challenge themselves with how fast they can hit one button.

In your experience, yes. However, in my experience, if both the tank and healer leave, DPS are stuck waiting. I would consider waiting an additional 10 minutes to refill both tank and healer slots as long enough. And no, neither one of them D/Ced. They both literally quit. There was no kicking, no '???' on their names...they quit. And if you thought my posting was animosity, imagine what could come flying from my fingers if I'm truly triggered. I'm not sure why you keep bringing up your experience as a healer. I mentioned that me, as SAM, and a BLM were abandoned by a tank and healer who both failed to communicate and adjust.

And yes, me and BLM eventually got a tank and healer, and we cleared with no problems - double-pulls and everything.

Been running Shisui all day and a couple of Bardam's leveling my RDM. Been pretty uneventful for the most part. AST and WHM seem to love it when I Mana Shift them. I always get a common for it, it's like Goad. I had someone comment that I was fun to watch. I guess because I like to rush in and backflip out pop manafication and rush in again. Which leads to this next part.

Fighting the bird boss, everything was good. Corpse and Displacement were off cooldown, I had 40 Black and White. So I rushed in, flipped out, popped Manafication, rushed in and got confused. I was hitting the tank and then like every single AoE landed on me. I couldn't have timed that worse.
