The drop rate of Marid Hides...

Anyone else found the drop rate of Marid Hides to be unusually low?

I just spent ~45 mins murdering mammoths in the Azim Steppe (after trying the Sacred Marids in the Fringes with very little luck) and I have all of 14 Marid Hides to show for it.

Posting this here because it's entirely crafting-related.

Odder Otters, though...

I've not noticed this issue with other monsters in the game, really. Just marid hides thus far.

I've found all the mobs have low drop rates. The only way to compensate is over level them so you can cut them down faster or pester FC to group up and farm them. As suggested, Retainer being the clear choice. Retainers even in cases where you could out farm them, will gather HQ 5X what you or I will get.

I have two gathering retainers, but yeah, I think I see what folks mean.

If you need to kill this many actual mammoths to get one usable hide out of them, then I understand why our ancestors wound up driving them to extinction, heh...

Not just Marid Hide I assure you. Yes, majority will say use retainers, but that is not the solution. Not a lot of us have max retainers to start with. If I go out pve for gathering hide, I do at least want to see some rewards. Doing 15 rounds of gazelle net me like what 11 gazelle hides.

Marid Hides, Manzasiri Hair, Halgai Mane... the list goes on of monster drops that are required in substantial amounts but are a rare drop. For example, a set of level 70 Gathering gear (left side, no tools) requires 15 Gazelle Hides, 64 Halgai Manes, 73 Manzasiri Hair & 60 Twincoons. If you had to gather those purely from mobs it could take hours.

I have to make like 5 sets of gathering gear for my retainers.
