Primals are tied to beast tribes, not the types of zones they spawn in. Of the candidates we have for possible beast tribe factions in this xpac, only the Vira live in an arid map and we have already seen their primal. If we do get a new one it will likely be tied to the Namazu (fish) or Lupin (wolves,) neither of which would make a sense to have a golem primal. The only possible way we would get one in SB is if SE slaps on an entirely new beast tribe out of the blue who have some tie to rocks.

Even then, as Legion said, golems are a type of mob, not a primal.

Like so many summons in Final Fantasy history, Golem could refer to either, but Golem has been a summon in the past.

Hm, never play VI, so I hadn't seen that.

Still, it doesn't change the fact that Eorzea is already chock-full of non-primal golems and it would make no sense whatsoever for them to be included as both when all the other primals are unique from all other bosses and mobs in FF14. It also doesn't address the first part of my post that primals in FF14 are based on beast tribes, not types of zones.

I don't think it's terribly likely we'll get a Golem Primal in FFXIV, because of all the reasons mentioned in the thread already, but if we can have two completely different bosses named Halicarnassus I don't think the name already being used is what will hold it back. The distinction would just be between The Golem and a golem.
