Yeah I meant that I wanted to take up DoL and DoH. Basically all crafting and gathering. I just want to know what's good for SAM. And To what end, like what will doing all the crafting gain me other than free repairs?DoH, and DoL (and retainers) to supply them can be quite profitable. They can also help you by allowing you to repair your gear without having to pay some nice to do it.
If you want to take up DoH, then do so. My advice would be to take them all up to 15 to start, should be fairly easy using the Crafting Log. After that, CUL to 37, then take them all up to 50 in whatever order you see fit (most would recommend CRP to 50, then either ALC or WVR). Then take them all to 60, then all to 70.

Armorer, Weaver, and Goldsmith seem to be the main classes that make Samurai gear. Garland tools has information under their leveling and end-game gear tools. http://www.garlandtools.org/ -- an essential for FFXIV crafting and gathering.
Other than repairs, the usual advantage of crafting, for a combat class, is "jump-start" gear that lets you bypass a level of tome-based/dungeon-drop gear, like the current iL320 gear that eliminates the need to grind Verity tombstones. It's not as good as the Creation or Deltascape gear, but it prevented people from having to grind Verity to qualify for the higher-difficulty dungeons and raids. If SE stays true to form, there will be new levels of crafted jump-start gear in the future.
Sometimes, for some classes, crafted gear can be over-melded to be better than tome or dungeon-drop gear, but I don't know if this is the case at present.
Other advantages can be monetizing your dungeon drops and excess tomestones, having something to do while you wait for a queue to pop, and just having a very different way to enjoy yourself. Fishing , for example, is very different from combat, and many people enjoy it. I do at times.

Awesome! This is good to hear. I understand what Roth_Trailfind said about leveling up culinary and such for the added skills. But I will focus on those three that you mention. I take it this crafted gear you speak off is bound to the crafter? Because I never saw any of it on the MB. Where as on HW you could buy and sell the crafted gear.
Best to focus on CRP, BSM, WVR, GSM and LTW as this covers majority of the gear needed for crafting. But I would still level them all at the same time it's much cheaper and easier with the cross class skills.Awesome! This is good to hear. No, it's not bound. Look at, just as an example, "True Griffin Chestpiece of Striking," an iL320 body piece for PGL MNK and SAM. It's level 70 gear, so if you aren't level 70 yet you'll have to manually set the level to 70 when browsing the MB.
