I do actually agree. It is pretty ridiculous to swim (or sleep) in those sandals while NPCs have the freedom to go without.

This still bugs the crap outta me, especially with all the swimming around I did today with the moonfire faire. My character still doesn't know the joy of walking on the beach barefoot! knowing there are even more npc's kicking about shoelessly than what I thought also irks me.
I hope so much, since a lot of npcs are barefoot now, that we will get it to in near future. Like someone said before. It would be enough if we get a item that we can glamour over the shoes so we get barefoot.
The problem should not be anymore that it is to difficult since there are a lot of npcs without shoes. Also it will take not more resources than a new pair of shoes. Am I right?
Maybe we have to wear sandals because our footsteps would still sound like we're wearing shoes.
I don't believe it's completely impossible but chances are it will require quite a bit of work. Yet still, we definitely have some issues with either clipping or levitating even with shoes on!
At the Idyllshire platform where the Aetheryte is, when you climb on the stairs your feet will go into the wood:
Wolve's Den pier on the way to the PVP area, you will hover on the dock:

I'd say we just add socks to the sandals. Maybe atleast in Eorzea we can make it look cool
Is this really an issue for anyone other than foot fetishists? Genuine question.

lol what's with people thinking people who want to go barefoot in game have a foot fetish? For some, roleplay, and even people who don't roleplay, swimming with your sandals on is weird, for glamour purposes... are a few reasons I can think of off the top of my head, as some people have already posted in this thread. I go barefoot IRL all the time (around the house), the site of bare toes doesn't have me in erotic throeslol sorry just realised I've got a rhyming thing going on

So... there really is an easy solution to this, and the implementation of it has already been used for Paladins... "invisible" shoes. Much like the Paladin shields with the Makai shield, they could simply make a pair of the starter sandal glamour that doesn't show the shoe itself.
