    Dragoon 4.06 changes...

    • Heavy Thrust Potency increased from 100 to 140.
    • Chaos Thrust Combo potency increased from 220 to 230.Potency when executed from a target's rear reduced from 150 to 140.
    • Fang and Claw Potency increased from 200 to 250.
    • Wheeling Thrust Potency increased from 200 to 250

    Entire post is being edited. I misread the patch notes when it came out and neglected to reply to comments on this thread after page 2. Yeah this is quite nice when you occassionally miss positionals, but I did want something better for people who hit all of their positionals, though i acknowledge it isnt always possible, true north helps with that.


    Anyways, I'm hoping for something in the 4.1 patch that will change the eyes mechanic a bit. Lowering the amount of eyes to 3, and giving dragonfire dive dive ready would be pretty nice. and maybe making LotD a little bit better than it is. I still think dragoons could use a buff since they're lower than ninjas who bring more utility. I'd like to see them a little bit closer to monk and many players I have seen would agree that LotD and the eyes are a little bit eeh.'

    This changes effects only uncomboed and out of position potencies.
    You now hit harder while missing your positionals with the combo.
    You hit for less while just using it without combos.
    You hit for the same like before while comboed and get the positionals.

    In overall as long as you get every positional you wont see a difference.
    But in encounters where you get forced out of the positionals for a third of the fight or so you should see a DPS gain. Just like 2% but a gain is a gain.

    These changes only raise the skill floor for the most part, with a softer DPS loss when you can't hit positionals.

    I'm baffled that you still lose LotD and all your eyes if you misclick BotD during LotD.

    They seem highly resistant to changing the eye mechanic, I don't know why. DRG need a small DPS bump. Keeping the eyes from degrading would add more life cycles and give that bump.

    The only time this would be a dps loss is if you went full tard and tried to Chaos Thrust without combo. Otherwise dragoons got a SUBSTANTIAL dps increase IMO

    Looking at the other changes, I think SE only goes for small adjustments in these incremental patches. The big job patch will likely be in 4.1. The changes to eyes and other mechanics takes more thought and programming I imagine than simply lowering or increasing a potency (probably takes about 10 seconds of work).

    This does raise the skill floor, which I like. Even after playing DRG for years, some fights make it hard to hit positionals due to mechanics or movement. I'd be surprised if there are any players who hit their positional exactly 100% of the time in every raid or EX trial. Should be strived for, but sometimes its not practical without clipping deep into a GCD.

    Am i assuming correctly that if fang and claw and wheeling thrust are being increased to 250 base potency, will they still get 90 additional potency for position, making the total 340? or is it going to remain at 290?

    They don't get 90 potency for positional, you're interpreting it wrong. It was 200 potency and 290 when hit from the correct position. Now it is 250 and 290 when hit from the correct position. There is a reason they describe it the way they do.

    They remain at 290. The game does positional attacks/combo attacks by just having a different potency for those attacks.

    As for the changes, they'll help a bit for those times when the boss spins, of you're in a move-and-die mechanic.
