While I'm all for more storage space, attaching it to a limited resource like housing is not a good option as it just makes buying up multiple houses even more lucrative. You can always mail the materials/gil to your friends as needed for now.![]()

All the owner's houses will share the same chest, so more houses will not mean more chests.
Similar like all the FC safes in every city are still the same single safe for a FC and not many different safes.

If the chest worked in apartments, apartments allowed tenants and the chest pulled up the same inventory even if you have both house & apartment then I wouldn't see a problem with it as apartments are readily available on nearly every server. They'd have to create menus as to which chest you were accessing too of course, because if a friend had their own storage in their apartment and you had one, that'd be problematic with sharing.
If they had one for marriage/spouse storage to, that'd be great
