Scammed them with your level 30 THM...?nope sorry. NA's will party with anyone at anytime does not really matter who the person is as long as they can play the game. Japanese on the other hand have such a huge grudge with NA's because we talk hella junk in /say or just cause we are NA's lol. Lets be real Japanese will go hide in there little hole/server just so they can stay away from USA. I don't care really i scammed my fair share of jp's so let them go hide in their own servers.
What?
They hate us because 90% of NAs are bad at the game. Kind of like you.

For me it's not about practicing French, joining Japanese parties, or leve quest with the Germans, but fully about keeping my increased selling, and buying options intact. I think this will be a huge mistake if servers are split language wise. It affects more than just battle/party related game play. If the servers aren't booming and when the population dwindles down years from now the playerbase will know it, and feel it. Also the elephant in the room here, but there is no certainty that 2.0 will bring in the kind of numbers they are expecting. In my opinion this is just a really bad move.
..and another note. I don't know what is up with people's reading comprehension, but firstly they are splitting servers by language, not region. Secondly, this does not mean that servers will be located regionally so this does nothing for the lag. This problem is supposedly getting a fix with the new engine. The servers will remain in Japan. Yoshi has stated this in a couple of interviews already, and explained the costs to maintain those foreign servers would not be in the main interest of the company.
I refuse to touch the NA JP discussion going on. It's best to just drop it. You can't just paint either, or with one color and be done with it. I've met tons of cool people from every region, and very few assholes.

I do not like the fact that they are discussing language specific servers.. Just... No. There is no reason for it. There are probably a small population from all parts of the world that play FFXIV that advocate separate language servers - SE - do not listen to them. I think having us all together raises appreciation for other cultures and tolerance.
The language specific servers might as well be regional servers. The outcome could end up the same.
Do.. Not.. Do.. It
Im more concerned about how they mentioned that the regional servers arent going to be new ones. Does it mean they pop with "Ohai Lindblum is now JP onry tralalala but no worried u can chnage ur server now" And then kewl everone migrated to different servers *cheers* Friends lost. ._. No?

i have mixed feelings about it. on one end i like the multicultural aspect of it now, and on the other i can see having a north America server as an opportunity to have more players on at the same time. I dont speak Japanese so i wouldn't be missing the conversations i never have. But i do enjoy playing with players from Europe Sweden France, ect..If given the opportunity out of the gate i prob would have picked a North American server though if it was an option.

I think maybe make it optional... I really like mixed servers and the possibility to be able to do anything at any time of the day. I understand that some JP players only want to play with JP people - I would love to be able to be picky and speak my own language in a game like this, but unfortunaly only 5 mil people speak Finnish in the whole world (lol) so anything goes for me.
There is a little Monkey in all of us....
It is optional. They will have both language and global servers.
All servers will be based in japan
the server response is supposed to "be similar to WoW response times"
/end thread
Whatever makes my gameplay better. If that means more people in my prime time that speaks english then so be it.

Meh, I don't think they should do regional servers. Our linkshell is made up of half NA half EU players. We have a lot of active players and can get groups going for both daytime and nighttime runs/raids/parties.
I've partied with JP, I've partied with NA, I've partied with EU.
I like the mix, it's one of the key aspects of FFXI and FFXIV I love.
You are correct, but many tend to make it seem like JP are never rude and NA are or EU are.Originally Posted by ApplePie
Um, some of the JP are just as childish/rude. Last night while camping Ranig'Oh, the one for Sipahi Turban, a group of JP came and camped on top of me and my friend.
The thing many people forget when making this stereotype is that it isn't the race, it's the player. Ethnicity has nothing to do with a persons rudeness. The person being rude has everything to do with the rudeness. I get kind of tired of these JP are/aren't rude, or NA are/aren't rude, or EU are/aren't rude.

One of my favorite aspects of XI was the inter-language parties. I made some Japanese friends where we really had to struggle against the language barrier, but it was still fun and rewarding.
One guy (Yoshitaro) spoke to me in slightly broken English with an occasional Japanese word thrown in. And I spoke to him in very broken Japanese, with an occasional English word or auto-translate. Managed to learn he was a radiologist who traveled occasionally for conferences. Not something that was easy to get across.
Obviously it was significantly harder to communicate for both of us. But it was really, really worth it. Culture exposure, vocabulary growth, challenge to overcome...
