It's Time for That Talk Again [Darkside Animation]

So, it's now been over 2 years since DRK's inception, and the general feeling among the community that the Darkside animation is severely underwhelming for what it is, especially compared to other "aura" effects for other jobs (such as DRG's BotD and WAR's Inner Release). And don't even get me started on how WAR gets glowing red eyes, while DRK doesn't get glowy orange eyes.

So I'm just wondering, can we please, please revisit the idea of getting an updated effect that isn't just little red streaks floating about your character?

Dude that was legitimately one of my favorite additions of this expansion. It looks awesome.

I would love the black flames that was in the initial reveal, but unless they completely reprogram how said effects are displayed on, amongst other things, mounts I'm afraid we won't be getting it. And you know how things go in reprogramming. Change one thing, affect ten others. With the time-constraints the FFXIV team most likely has, they're having to make choices. I can understand them putting this on the long-burner, if even that.

Wait, WAR eyes glow red in IR? I never noticed, was distracted by the giant red glowing aura that screams, "Come and die!" If WAR eyes do glow red that's cool.

Doesn't Darkside last forever? Like until you turn it off? It'd be unfair if Dark Knights got some cool animation for the entirety of the fight. It'd be like Warriors glowing red for the whole fight. Which would be cute, especially on my Lala.

Would be nice to have visual effects for other CDs though, that add the blue/black flames, or whatever, that blend into with Darkside's translucent canvas.

Like if DRK got a UI widget for stacks of Dark Arts - hence blue flames added while DA(s) is up, other flames or whatever during Blood Weapon / Price, Delirium (if it left a buff). Somewhat illustrates an issue facing DRK, where there isn't a whole lot stacking of multiple buffs compared to other jobs.

I remember the DRK reveal trailer had them get glowing red eyes instead of red cinnamon swirls. But eh whatever. And I remember then saying they would think about adding in a black smoke aura or some such like from the 50 quest but I guess they either forgot or flatout lied about that too.

The OP is complaining about a "lack-luster glow effect" when.... PLDs don't even get a glow or anything like that.

Where's our angel wings? Where's all the light that we're supposed to have? We don't have any of that.
