What are your views on camping over others?

I had a fun day today, filled with adventure, excitement, a sense of being the best, and a sense of being a jerk. All of these feelings came from competing with others for claim over a mob, and how those people responded in turn. So I'm very curious about how you feel about camping over others, and the various scenarios that you might base your decisions off of. I want to see where everyone sits on this one. Discuss! And keep it civil.

Well, funny you mention this, because I was camped over earlier. I had 6/8 members in which 3 were afk. Ixali would spawn on top of our camp one at a time and I didn't want to leave the AFKs to just get killed, so we stuck there until the other 2 members and the AFKers came back.

Now, here comes Big Bad Level 50 Jackass coming to PL 3 people. However, I wasn't really bothered until he said in /say "F**k them they are only pulling one at a time."

So.. "We are at 8/8 waiting on other two to get here, so when they do, we'd like to keep this camp. Thanks"

From that point on he was raging about everything, even after I suggested he move to fight the level 37-39 Hippocerfs instead. I didn't bother responding to the nonsense until he said "Let me know when you guys are done then."

Depends on the type of camping.. 9.5/10 i'll move on if its leveling and find another spot.
(.5 beign when someone has done it to me i will do it back)

I'll behave to a point when farming items but i'll do my best to get as many as possible without being a total ass to the other people. (that has on occasion gone wrong but i do try to apologise)
But i see farming as a somewhat competitive thing. (that's probably from EvE where its market PvP lol)

If i see other in the camp i leave if people take our camp i try and out camp them to they end up leaving or ask them to please find other spot.

Depends on the situation. If it's an EXP Party, try and find another spot, in the long run you'll be better off anyway. With NMs/Keys I've been fairly lucky, several times we've fought our way into the middle/back of a stronghold to find another group already there, the other group recognize that it has taken us time and effort to get there too, so worked out alternating claims, with both groups killing the NM to speed up respawns.

This is a game where people are trying to have fun. If I decide to go set up a party somewhere and there is a party already I don't just take over. I will ask if the camp can support two parties or if they are leaving soon.

If it is NM I have gone both ways, I think you can either be competitive for it, or I have joined up to help the other person get the drop so I can have the claim easier. (Meaning the easy NM's not the high level ones)

This game is similar to ffxi... your name doesn't change so when you act like a jerk people will remember your name. I want to have a good name.

Nms/Farming/Endgame I see it as a free for all honestly. Gona have competition there.

Leveling first group there gets it, with a few exceptions.

I do not respect a soloers right for a spot in a known group leveling camp... Example Rank 45 killing lower raptors at iron lake solo. Outside known leveling spots, first come gets the camp as always.

I feel Pwrlvl partys should not take a real xp partys spot.

I guess it would really depend on how many mods were in that area and if I had been at the camp first or not.

If I had been at the camp first I would have ask the other party in a nice way to please move to another area.
If they just stayed in that area and were being jerks by taking the mobs I would just move onto another area seeing as how camps are easy to find if you take the time to look around.
When it comes to talking trash and bad language outside of talking to my friends in game who I know it's ok to talk with doing so I really have Zero-tolerance for it and I would more than likely call a GM about it and again move onto another area.

I don't know about you but I don't have time to sit around and fight over mobs and talking trash to people I don't know and more than likely don't want to know if they are acting that way. 90% of the time I'm on a tight Schedule IRL so I want to get as much exp as I can during my game time.

So that's about all I can tell you at the moment.

Depends on the situation.

If I was there first, I keep staying. I don't feel guilty because;

1) I was there first. First comes, first served.
2) I am minding my own business, and not invading someone's moment.
3) They can be my guest, I don't yell at them. Camp is not only mine.
4) What determines whether they can stay (or will stay) is usually not me, but the monster spawn rate.

I feel it's ok to be competitive (especially if I'm there first). Usually if there are not enough monsters, or the spawn rate is too slow, I try to pull faster just to make my point that I am staying. Most of the time they will eventually leave.

If I was there after someone, I watch.

0) If there are not many mobs, or just a bit more than enough for the first person, I leave.
1) If there are plenty of mobs to share and they're not killing fast, I edge around and pull any stray mob, one by one or two at a time, not being greedy and rounding up a bunch.
2) If they approach me politely, I shall present my reason to see f they accept it and let me stay.
3) If they discuss and give a reason I can accept, I shall leave.


If it's NM camp, I ask them how many items they want. And let them have the camp while I leave and ask them to send me a tell when the camp is available (they're done).

Might team up with them to help them kill faster, if they agree.
