... I gotta say.. never had this happen before. Who are you people partying with ?
I've seen auto attacking DPS, paladins without shields.. Dark knights who hate grit... never seen a healer ONLY DPS-ing.

WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
Why it has to be one OR another? Why not both? I know it's shocking, but it's entirely possible to keep the tank alive and help with attacking.
Check "Tales of the Dutyfinder"-topic.
There was a story about Zurvan where both heals only dps'd and never ever healed.
Some guy even had the guts to defend it because "they didnt wipe and they might have been negleting their main job, but at least they tried maximizing dps, which is more important than healing the tanks."
The attitude toward 0 DPS healers didn't really cause this. This is just bad players being bad. Please don't take examples and reasoning to the extreme ends. People that want healers to DPS don't want them doing it to the exclusion of healing. Every person that wants DPS from healers simply ask them to do it in their downtime when nothing needs healing. If a healer, upon hearing they should DPS, starts to DPS to the exclusion of healing, they are bad, the concept itself is fine.
Yeah, except its not. Forcing something unneeded onto other players just because you want your own time/runs optimized is not fine. The attitude toward 0 DPS healers didn't really cause this. How is it not needed? Almost every trial and raid has enrage timer and/or the hardest last phase, which can be skipped with extra party DPS. Healers only make it harder for themselves because they'll have to heal more.
Threads like this can discourage players from dpsing as healers.
The problem isn't with healers dpsing. When we talk about healer dps, we're talking about a balancing act, knowing when it's ok to dps and when to get back to healing.
Dpsing as a healer doesn't mean giving up healing. It means taking advantage of your offensive spells to contribute to overall dps during windows of opportunity (downtime, when it would be safe and efficient).
The problem here is healers who are forgoing healing for dpsing (but to be honest, this is something I personally have never seen).
But just because these healers the OP is describing aren't doing their job right, doesn't mean that the problem lies with healer dps in general, and it certainly doesn't prove that healer dps is a negative thing.

If u hit enrage blame your dps not your healer for not doing dmg. And he are there to heal not complain that a mechanic is hard to heal.
You'll hit enrage even with best dps on last raids without healers/tanks help until you are overgeared or with echo. Lazy healers don't get clears until months later, when dps are geared enough to compensate for lacking party damage they refuse to provide. And chances are... the best dps will not want a static with 0 dps healers.
Yeah, and again, wea re not talking about worlds first or raid groups overall.
Its about random groups in dungeons, trials and ex modes.
