Weakened pet that doesn't unweaken until you resmn? Wow I never knew that. Definitely sounds like something SE should patch along with a couple other things.

This is why you cant spread false information without testing it to verify its true. Weakness does not affect pets.
Sure did! Conclusion: Weakness does not affect pets.
Base Stats:
Base Stats with Brink of Death:
Base Physick for sample:
Brink of Death Physick [50% as potent]:
Base Embrace as example:
Brink of Death Embrace [No Change]:
Interestingly, SCHs can have their pets, at least selene, fix their hp from our earlier gear removal discussion. Casting fey wind updates her stats. I imagine the arrow would do the same for ifrit but overall irrelevant to combat.
I also wanted to add to this that Spur used to snapshot whatever buffs you had on you at the time of use and your overall stats and give them to your summon as a buff. With spur gone though I'm not sure if any of the other abilities have the same effect.

... why would you have to update your pets stats as a smn? They are not affected by weakness. They are summoned based on your *TRUE* stats before modifiers. It's probably why old Cleric Stance never affected your fairy and why they had to patch in pots/food to begin affecting them.
At the cost of a gcd and burning swiftcast, SMNs never lose their pet damage, even during brink of Death. That's a pro, however minor, not a backwards false con.
Earthern Ward might switch titan back, but im at work. Aoe Arrow or fey wind would update ifrit/garuda...
But again, since weakness does not affect pets, what reason would you need to update them? They will always summon with the same stats no matter what debuffs you have on yourself or buffs.

Except Weakness for the longest time has effected pets, unless they fixed that in an unofficial patch that I missed.
It never did. I used to think to myself how nice it was that Lilly would keep higher hp than me, therefore full stats, with old weakness. It was a minor buff for sch prog compensating for the heavy mp cost to re summon after death.

I can tell you for a fact that it did. Back in Creator you could see the hp difference with your pet if you summoned it after you died.

SMN is fine If your decent with it. People say in progression there are a lot of deaths.. which is true, however a wipe doesnt effect a summoner.. everyone wipes so its fine.. A person dying could affect a summoners MP pool as you need to revive them... but that is actually a benefit to having a summoner.. combat res.. The only reason a summoner would be a detriment to a raid, is if the summoner himself is dying alot, as its very difficult for a summoner to recover after death due to its kit.
In terms of how to make your summoner insanely useful. a dps comp of BLM/RDM + SMN + bard + DRG would be best.
