The question is simply why not do it sooner rather than later.
Why care then if you do not need it? i270 is hand to me gear so yeah you should have something to say why a nerf is needed for an achievement weapon

As for the argument, it's very simple. It never was an "achievement". It was a "chore" meant to give the best weapon available for those that manage to finish it. But it no longer is the best weapon. The achievement was HAVING THE BEST WEAPON. Which it is not at all, not by far, anymore. Hence the "chore" part can very well be reduced to a reasonable stage.

There's also a very big reason for that, one that you achievement this, achievement that people seem to forget. There is a STORY to that weapon. Yes. At this point the weapon is irrelevant, but I know that at least for me, the STORY LINE of making that weapon is interesting. And this is an RPG game based around a story.

Why people need to waste hours upon hours to get a skin of a weapon, in order to get to read the story?! The reward is no longer valid. At all. There are MANY glamours for weapons, far more accessible and not inferior. But the story is unique to the relic. There no longer is any achievement to it anyway. Achievement was getting it when it was still relevant. Right now, people can solo stuff that is required for it without any difficulty. It's just grind. You don't hear people "Look at me! I'm so great! What an achievement! I reached lvl70!". Cause it's no achievement. It's going to happen so long as you spend enough time. Same here.
I like to see a poll on this, how many really play for story only vs progression. I do not know any. The closest I have is someone caring about the story sometimes when it gets interesting, otherwise it is skip skip skip.

I play for fun. And both progression and story are part of that fun. I did a bunch of quests just for the story. Then there is stuff I did simply for progression. I only skip cutscenes, and only those that make others wait on me, so in dungeons. Ones I can watch at the inn.

I gave you a valid argument. It being only for "part of the community" (and seeing as there are so-called ROLE PLAYING SERVERS that are the fullest servers locked for that very reason...it's NOT that small a part) is in no way a valid argument.

I'd like you to give a valid argument, cause your "it's an achievement" is not valid, since you yourself invalidated it by saying that "if someone wants a ilvl270 weapon there there's <this and this>". And I gave further reasons to say why it no longer is an argument. Unless you somehow manage to invalidate those, good luck with that.

It's simple. It never was made as an "achievement", more of a milestone. It was made as the best weapon, and players always make an achievement out of the best weapons and armors in a game. Cause they're the best. Once they stop being the best however, to developers they are just "outdated gear", but due to sense of nostalgia, and often elitism, people don't want the outdated stuff to become more available, to the point of cussing at the developers when they make it easier to get saying that "they destroyed them".

You get an achievement for entering The Feast or Frontlines for the first time. How much of an achievement that is?! Those would be better called "milestones". But it is what it is.

I play for the story, and to progress my abilities to do things(EX/Savage/Crafting - things that I know I'm not great at, and can improve).

I don't play for progression. I advance purely by accident while doing story related goals. Hit level 70 on Bard a while ago...still in the Ruby Sea. I did that because of trying to finish the anima quests before the next patch. So, now I'm levelling MCH to catch up to 63 so I'm not wasting the xp. Yeah, they could nerf those a bit.
