Sorry about that, I had forgotten that you had mentioned that earlier (about the drop rate). I just replied to your post thinking that it was someone else that stated the drop rate was still bad.I mentioned that because people like you were coming in here complaining that it would be "dumbing down" crafting to make a drop rate of a common item better. Because it was being said that people who put in "minimal effort" should be met with "minimal reward" when for something like this, that simply wouldn't be the case. And it's not just my one personal anecdote against everyone else, you know?
But there's clearly no point in reasoning with you, with how dramatic you are about this. So take your internet argument medal and go home. Apparently, for someone so intelligent and well trained, you've got nothing better to do.

It's okay, apparently my meaning in making the post wasn't clear enough anyways. I guess we could argue semantics all day; some of us lack the ability to think in broad terms. My point was that people shouldn't be defending such a low drop rate of an item of this nature (either in the past or in the future for similar items) with the defense of "you need to put in more work" because nothing else similar in the game is treated like that.

I remember one of the worst mats to make in HW, wasn't so much silkworm (and their odd renaming everything confusing everyone), Or even the 5 chimerical manes needed to make a felt. Void Glue.
Why void glue? It didn't drop from an overworld mob. This led to a lot of confusion...and so people HAD to use their retainers to get the item. The fact that it was a level 51 recipe made this more confusing.
I think now they've corrected this putting it as a reward for doing a FATE, but I don't think anywhere else in this game I've encountered an item needed in a regular recipe that was a restricted dungeon drop, and the only way to get around it was to use a DOW/M retainer to farm the item.

Nonsense. Getting the gear drop you wanted from a raid or the Diadem is exactly like that. So is getting the rare ponies.
Your just complaining that you either have to pay other people for the mats or work hard to get them.
Poor baby, is it that you just don't want anyone not a crafter to be able to make good gil by selling mats to crafters?
I mean, that's what it's about, right? Easy gil from crafting. Money for nothing, with how dumbed down (by Manipulation II and Prudent Touch) crafting is in 4.0.
