I guess that there is diferent opinions on everything.
To me (And to almost everyone I play with) SB story is much better than the previous ones.
In fact, if I had to put a score, I would say that A Realm Reborn was a 3 out of 10, Heavensward 5 out of 10, and Stormblood 7/10.
For the first time in this game I have enjoyed the story.
Alphinaud is extremely cautious, especially since the last bold decision he made resulted in the near-deaths of the Sultana, the Scions, and Rauhban losing an arm. Alisaie is brash and reckless, for the point of creating contrast between them when they were so close to one another for most of 2.0. Alphinaud doesn't even suffer from the problems Minfillia did, when everything she contributed was off-camera and unrelated to fighting. He's right in the middle of things constantly, coming up with new carbuncles every patch cycle. She is. Unlike Alphinaud, who's still the same twerp he's always been, Alisaie is in every way a more interesting and compelling character than the twit that stayed behind in Kugane, precisely because he's a completely useless and worthless character in the grand scheme of things. He hasn't done anything to grow or change. His presence on screen only serves to highlight how worthless he's been since ARR when literally everything we've done could've been done much faster if Alphinaud wasn't constantly going "B-But we mustn't, we must wait! We mustn't do anything just wait around!" Alphinaud has not changed. He's still the same worthless brat we ran into in ARR, and he will forever be the exact same brat we ran into constantly whining, whinging, and moaning. You're free to not like Alisaie, but you can't tell me that a character that isn't constantly wetting himself in fright is worse written then the biggest coward in the series.
Thats exactly another problem I have with SB. I am fine if my character is not in the main light all the time and if someone else beats the big bad enemy or does something successful, its fine that they will get the praise. But in SB it was most of the time thanks to us that they even won. Yugiri and the WoL were the one that raised the moral of the villagers, it was the WoL that got the title in the Azim Steppe (and was completely side lined after that..) even if this was still a group effort. But then comes the biggest annoyance...Ala Mhigo..we storm the city and defeat all the big enemies and defeat not only Zenos but Shinryu too..who is the one that gets to be in front of all? Lyse! While the one that even made it possible had do stand behind her. Couldnt we at least have stood next to her in that scene? It really hit home at that moment how our character does so much but gets pushed back for some NPC to shine..
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Ruby Sea looks nothing like a river... ._.
♥ Baby, tell me, what's your motive? ♥
Ah, the classic "You don't agree with me and therefore must be trolling". Yes, I do believe Alphinaud is a cringy, whiny brat that I'd sooner leave permanently in the Waking Stones if I had the chance. There is absolutely nothing redeemable about his characterization.
Is it any wonder that the plot actually proceeded at an appreciable pace the second we left Alphinaud behind?
Like it or not, we are adventurers: A certain level of recklessness is part of the job description. Excessive caution is not.

I may not always see eye to eye with Thunda Cat, but she's right about this one. It is possible to have different beliefs in characters. I find Alisae's personality a better match to mine own. I'd also rather leave Alphinaud back at The Waking Sands. We're there to burn down Garleans aplenty. Let heroics and action do the talking, not in my opinion mindless political games.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
I loved every moment of SB, and when I got through Raubahn, I was only sad because the server issues were stopping people from experiencing how great it was.
I was pleased with the fact that in Stormblood I am seen as a kind adventurer by most of the people I encounter, rather than THE Warrior of Light. While the main story line was frenetic, the side-stories really make this expansion. There have been side-stories that hit the mark throughout the years of this game, but there are more of them in this expansion.
I have no desire to be worshiped as THE Warrior of Light. I will gladly help my friends reach their full potential without requiring recognition or adulation from those who don't know me.
The story is what keeps me around.
