Our WAR boyfriends cheated on us with DRK throughout all of HW, so now PLDs are taking revenge on our exes by stealing DRK from WAR. We hit the gym and are hotter now. It's like a trashy romantic comedy and we're Cameron Diaz.
One of the developers mains Paladin. They got promoted to a position where they're actually able to make changes to the game. Jealous and tired of how Warriors and Dark Knights had the spotlight in Heavensward, they decided to utterly wreck them while making sure Paladins are able to shine brighter than they ever have before!
I'll never forget the sweet feel of people getting to 4.0's EX everyone in the party being dead except me when learning the fight.your question is a detriment to your enjoyment of the game... The sole reason to play anything is if you have fun playing it. The fact is that all content can be cleared with any combination of class. That META mindset of shaming whatever class is not meta is for underperforming players looking for a justification... ie: The 600 DPS Brd that said " Why would anyone play MNK, they are trash'' to me when I was doing my MNK anima during 3.0.

Okay but when I play a tank I want to bring something to the table other than "Somebody has to bite the bullet and play something other than Paladin". Warrior isn't fun any more, I spend most of the fight mindlessly hammering through my rotations and occasionally popping a cooldown because I have nothing better to do, because I have zero utility and most of my fun abilities have to sit on the bench a lot of the time because otherwise they won't line up for the only thing that Warrior can actually do: burst rotation. Spending 5/6 of the fight bored and unengaged isn't good design.
Don't excuse bad design with "fun" when even that isn't balanced right now.


I love dungeons, okay? I get it's not savage content that everyone focuses on, but doing day-to-day roulettes, I find warrior's more than efficient. Multiple cooldowns can be stacked and cycled throughout a dungeon run, and all that mitigation translates into time allowed in deliverance. PLD will never AoE like WAR, let alone DRK. WAR, on the other hand, can easily afford to use inner release and crank several decimates WHILE still holding onto tanking capabilities, and every cooldown at WAR's disposal has great synergy.
Fast runs and big numbers make me more than justified in saying WAR is not only a valid choice, but a recommendable one as well.
That's a valid personal opinion but doesn't mean people can't enjoy WAR (at least after the 4.05 patch).
I play all 3 tanks but WAR is my favorite of the 3.
I even prefer current WAR over 3.x WAR because I find it more engaging and complex (personal opinion).
PLD is super boring for me and I only use it for dungeon runs but there's no denying that they are the best tank and are good at everything with no weakness to the class.
DRK in this raid content mostly shines in V4S as TBN is very useful and the fight is a Healing check more than a DPS check. I also prefer current DRK over 3.x DRK.
V1-3S, it's totally fine to take a WAR but they'll only bring a marginal 5% DPS at best over PLD/DRK, ~100-150 raid DPS.
