I don't understand how people have the nerve to complain about the current system, which is allready a huge step into "easy peasy" from the original way raid loot worked.

WoW raid tier loot is better for casual players. You run the dungeon and you get your gear for the week, no token needed. If you are a hardcore raider you do the higher tiers, I assume the gear is similar, but I'm not sure, I'm not in a raid guild.
This token system is horrible and bland, I agree with the OP.

The system itself is stupid, yes, but it allready IS better than the system we had before - meaning, that if you get the token you get your specific loot.WoW raid tier loot is better for casual players. In the days of original ARR you only got the 2 items, not 2 tokens. You had to be lucky to get the loot you wanted, plus you could only kill each boss once a week.

The loot system in WoW is like how loot is distributed in the leveling dungeons. You only get one piece of loot that is ranked to the level of content you do, and it is attuned to your class. The system itself is stupid, yes, but it allready IS better than the system we had before - meaning, that if you get the token you get your specific loot.

There are other games, it is pointless to think this loot is good just because it is better then what it was in the games' past. The dev team need to get ideas from outside sources. Please don't compare it to how it used to be in FFXIV.

1. I am comparing it to how it was 2.5 years ago, not how it was in original FF14. They switched it to tokens because people kept complaining about not beeing able to get loot due to RNG.
2. I don't care how the loot works in WoW. That games is entirely different in terms of End Game Content.
3. I liked the old system. You killed the boss, you got loot which dropped directly for the classes, and then you couldnt kill him anymore until next week.
Because of crybabies they switched to the token system, which is tedious, boring and lazy. But it helps getting loot quicker.
Nontheless, people still complain. Get ahold of yourself!
Oh, and one last thing: The Dev team doesnt need to do anything. You want them to change a system, but they dont need to.
Because people like bringing up WoW, It took me 84 Heroic Mechanar runs just to see Suneater drop, which i promptly lost to a Hunter.1. I cleared Karazhan weekly on my Warrior back during Burning Crusade for the entire expansion barring a month or so when i was leveling/gearing it.
I was after one specific drop, the shield. Know when i finally looted it? 2 weeks before Wrath of the Lich King launched. Wasn't even an upgrade, because by then i was wearing a welfare epic from Shattered Sun dailies ...
And continuing my absurdly bad luck, I killed Lich King with an i200 blue welfare shield because no shield ever dropped at any point during the entire godsdamned expansion. I did finally get the shield off Airship though ... After my Guild had LK on farm for a few months.
I wish i was exaggerating, But I'm not. Not that any of you will believe it.
In my experience and opinion, XIVs token system is the superior way of handling loot. Knowing that as long as I'm putting the effort into clearing the raid/trial, I'm guaranteed to get upgrades eventually is a great motivator to continue clearing it.
There is nothing more depressing than never seeing an upgrade for months at a time because RNGesus hates you.
Here in XIV, I don't need to subject myself to months of clears for a single item drop.
You call it tedium, I call it the cure for the textbook definition of insanity.
I feel ya. Different game, Rift, but we hit Akylios and took 2 months to get one boss down, then we farmed for 3 more and I never did get the sword. I eventually gave up a went to PVP for the 2nd best sword in game. That was a tough boss as others went 4 months stuck on him, before the nerf.Because people like bringing up WoW, It took me 84 Heroic Mechanar runs just to see Suneater drop, which i promptly lost to a Hunter.

The problem with WoW's raid loot isn't in how they award it, it's in the RNG built into what you end up getting.WoW raid tier loot is better for casual players. Hey, you got your drop...and it wasn't what you wanted/needed, and even if it was the right item it could roll stats/ilvl in such a way that it's not even an upgrade.
We have the exact opposite issue - you're not guaranteed to get a drop, but when you do you know exactly what you're going to get.

This is a great idea! I play this game casually and honestly get like 1 hour a day to play but do play more during my days off if I have no plans. Overall the loot system doesn't like players that play only a little bit here and there and only really caters to those who drop like 2+ hours a day into the game.WoW raid tier loot is better for casual players. Tokens do seem idiotic unless you lived through having brd gear drop for the 8'th time in a run of dynamis. Literally nobody was left to give it to. What tokens do is make it possible for you to get your drop instead of hoping for rng to smile on you for your specific job ,or role. It does suck to go on a losing streak ,but you are still getting tomes each run which does amount to upgrades ,or alt gear. So at the least you are making progress albeit not the type you were hoping for.
