Leveling through PotD and Frontlines has kind of made me hate the playerbase

My fault for getting kicked? See what I mean....
And it was 4 times out of all my runs to 60, so that is quite a few I didn't get kicked for.

I just wanted to get the two dps classes to 70 so I could try them out, and have fun.

I know I don't need it. I need air and food and shelter.

I meant people in this game are generally not nice to each other.
I heard this community was really good, but maybe that was before.

Make friends? Like how do you do that?? Seriously, people already have their clicks...

Make a Party Finder and you will make friends. I ended up switching servers doing cross world pf in Frontlines and made a ton of friends. Don't do it through Duty Finder as that is the breeding pit for toxic behavior. Fire up your own PF for fates. People will join over time. It may take a bit but be patient.

Also if your FC doesn't run with you find a new FC. Your FC should be friends you can play with.

My experience is that people are in general nice to each other, yes - there might be expections, but you've got jerks everywhere, just gotta stay away from those and keep the people close that you like.

You can grow into even existing clicks, believe me!

The whole "How to make friends"-thing though... well, ofc you wont walk over to someone and say "Hey, lets be friends". Please note that I'll be sharing my own experiences now and this is by no means a 100% guide "How to make a friend" - stuff that (has) worked for me doesnt has to work for someone else, but anyways here are my general advices:

- find an FC that you share intrests with - being a bit of the stalking persona that I am I checked both your profile and your FC and honestly I dont understand why someone who hasnt leveled up their crafters and gatheres is in an FC that focusses pretty clearly and heavly on crafting and gathering. Ask yourself what you want to do in the game and then look for an FC that you can do that with. In order to find an FC you can either shout in larger cities, open a PF (stating what you're looking for) or checking peoples FCs and see wether or not they're recruiting (in that case I would send a whisper to the FC-master before though, to ask a bit about the FC itself)
- join PF-groups - specially learn and "help a friend" groups can be chatty in my experience. Or, if you're intrested in certain EX-Primals you can make a PF yourself for that content and chat a bit with the people joining. Might make a friend or two in the process even if you dont get the kill in the end!
- be chatty - I dont know if thats your style but at least I like to joke around a bit in dungeons from time to time, specially when the people are nice - with a bit of luck they're not just nice but on the same server!
- be helpful - goes hand in hand with joining certain PFs. I made a good amount of friends by just helping out strangers with EX-primal clears or with some new crafted gear.
- ...or ask for help - thats a way to meet someone and get to talk to them aswell
- if thats your thing: just talk to people that seem intresting to you. Not everyone might respond or like it but I know a friend of mine found some people by complementing on their glamour/looks!
- find a community (within LS for example) that you share intrests with - crafting, gathering, hunting, roleplay, raiding... I know that certain servers have like Roe-only-LS (aswell as some for lalafells... with those being less-played races)

At the end of the day you have to get active in one way or another to find people to play and enjoy this game with - and my best advice actually is: Dont go in with the attitude that you hate everyone and that the community sucks. If thats your mindset, it most definitly will - on the other hand, if you're willing to keep an open mind and make an effort to be a nice and helpful person, you might have more luck.

It works the same way in game as it does in real life. Joining a FC is similar to joining a club or a meetup group in real life.
