Why do people think that somehow the cash shop will provide better gear? All cash shops provide are alternative ways to customize your character in a way that does not give you an edge over another person. The items that can be sold are, non combat pets, different mount models and other unnecessary "luxuries". If you don't want them don't buy them.

I am very against cash shops, paying to play the game is fine but everything attained in the game should be awarded through completion of content and playtime.

simple there not "luxuries" they are part of the game. like Christmas outfits and wedding clothes or whatever else they can think of adding. just cause it don't effect stats don't mean everyone shouldn't be able to try to get them threw the game. ...it's a game, a mmorpg, clothes with or without stats are important to people. mounts, faster or not are important. people don't need to be paying more for them

granted they charge for expansions, but everything should be packaged by each box set "in my opinion" you think i played chocobo races, or collosium, or barely touched down on the pvp in ffix? really the answer is no, most side games suck, but they add them as part of the game. either way who are they to pick what is part of the game and what they get to charge for? targeting people for more money is a dumb thing to me, even if it does make for good money making.

only up side is that it helps support the game, but reality check they make tons to begin with least if they don't launch way early and screw themselves lol. also it's about drawing a line, one minute it's just non stat gear, next minute it will be mounts with 20% more speed and can fly and shoot rainbows out it's behind. it's there inch by inch movement to charging everyone ...by time they done we'll have to deposit 50cents every time we want to ride one. /hate lol

You have to populate the shop with a reason to buy it, and it's usually something you can't get in normal gameplay and is usually better than what you can get.

For example, Cash Shops share one common theme:

Hyper versions of normal potions. Say Hi-Potion restores 1,000 HP, the cash shop version would not only restore more than 1,000 HP it would have added effects like HP+4% or an additional HP restored over time for x duration -- That's a lot better than what you can get in normal gameplay. Gear wise, even vanity items that add more stats would make you better than those who don't utilize it, because no matter how you slice it, you're getting more benefit over time versus someone who doesn't use the shop.

I have no love of the idea of a cash shop as most MMORPG's implement it, and hope one is never implemented. There are just so many ways for it to go wrong both mechanically and aesthetically no matter what the limitations, and generally its implementation in subscription-based games is nearly always a sign of developers either being concerned about their game's ability to survive or simply having little respect for their playerbase and milking them for all they're worth. And.. Ifrit and Shiva mounts? What? That.. I hate to be rude and simply decry an idea but I have to admit if the game gets into that state I may very well be long gone. As Yoshida said, they're effing Gods, their summoning is so special and important that it's limited to a one-shot per defeat summon by an entire company.

I won't get into a long ramble about the why's and wherefores right now, just put me vehemently in the 'No' column and have done.

That being said.. what I would be okay with is cash-derived services. Server transfers, for instance, perhaps the opportunity to re-customise aspects of your character beyond the means of the in-game salons, maybe even some limited in-game influence like extra mannequin slots beyond the first several. And of course they already monetize character slots and plan to do the same for retainers..

And of course, feelies'd be nice, too. Moogle plushies! Or just.. well, you know, actual, real-world stuff. Plushies, posters, figurines..

that is for typical f2p games. this will be a p2p game so the items should all be cosmetic. vanity items that should not effect the game play. other mmos do this with out effecting balance at all. most people don't realize wow has a cash shop also but it don't sell anything you described. its for fans, and a extra way to get money. if you would not be so quick to dismiss every idea that is not your own you would see how this could help SE get more money. you know they need money to hurry up.

I prefer to earn rare items from quests and drops.
