    found solution for me.
the forum doesnt let me to quote the post so i just copy it here:

"Thanks for this info I was able to fix it with this by forcing the launcher to update by doing the following.

go to Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\ open up FFXIV_BOOT.cfg in word pad or notepad.

    you should see this

<FINAL FANTASY XIV Boot Config File>

    <Version>
    Version 2
    Language 1
    Region 2
    EulaAgreement 1
    StartupCompleted 1
    B4EulaAgreement 1
    BootVersionCheckMode 0
    ConfigReset 0

the line in bold is the key change the 0 to a 1 and it forces it to check version upon opening the launcher.

After doing this it updated launcher and the game fine."

This solution also worked for me. Changing the BootVersionCheckMode from 0 to 1.

The problem that I noticed right away was that even after maintenance and update my launcher DID NOT update and that seems to be the problem. By doing the above changes it forces the launcher to update at which point the game started downloading the necessary files for version 4.05.

This is a tip for people who have problems with FFXIV. After an update, if your game is WORKING. Make a copy of the files and keep it as a backup, if the game starts going weird you have a previous version that you KNOW is working to replace the old one. This saved me re-downloading the whole game and just doing updates from when my last backup was, much faster and less of a hassle.

It worked for me! Thank you
For those it didnt work, you have to do it with your launcher closed. Otherwise the changes wont stick.
